Analytics, reporting and AI are only as good as the data flowing underneath them. That's why every data-driven organisation needs someone who can build reliable, scalable pipelines that turn scattered sources into data people can trust.
At Darwind, we don't fit consultants into projects, we look for the project that fits you. You'll join a community of Darwinders who value autonomy, ownership, and genuine professional growth, and who believe the best work experience should always be the next one.
What you will do
As a Medior Data Engineer, you'll design and run the data foundations our clients rely on, working hands-on while taking ownership of your part of the platform.
- Design, build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines on cloud platforms, mainly Azure
- Develop ETL and ELT processes in Databricks using Python, PySpark and SQL
- Structure and maintain lakehouse layers so data stays available, consistent and reusable
- Integrate data from databases, APIs and external sources into a central data platform
- Monitor, troubleshoot and tune pipelines running in production
- Implement data quality checks, testing and documentation as part of your daily work
- Work with data analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders to translate needs into robust data solutions
- Contribute to CI/CD, version control and infrastructure as code practices within the team
- Share your knowledge with junior colleagues and help shape best practices on the project
Who you are
We look beyond the CV. For us, motivation and curiosity matter just as much as the technical box-ticking, but to thrive in this role, you'll likely recognise yourself in most of the following:
- You hold a master's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
- You have 3 to 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- You have strong skills in SQL and Python, and hands-on experience with Spark or PySpark
- You've worked with Azure data services such as Data Factory and Data Lake, and Databricks experience is a strong asset
- You understand data modelling, lakehouse architecture and Delta Lake concepts
- You're comfortable with Git and CI/CD, and knowledge of dbt, Airflow or Terraform is a plus
- You work independently, take initiative and keep a sharp eye on quality
- You can explain technical choices clearly to both technical and business profiles
- You're fluent in Dutch and have a good command of English, French is a plus
