The Data Engineer works with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build and maintain high-quality data pipelines that support KLAS’s research, operations, and public web application, and will be key in supporting current and future reporting and analytic solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Build and optimize secure, reusable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory and other tools.
- Integrate data from varied sources and develop data models for analytics, operations, and reporting.
- Create data quality checks, monitoring, and processes to keep data accurate, consistent, and reliable.
- Prepare well-structured datasets for reporting, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
- Work with Engineering, analysts, product managers, and business partners to translate needs into scalable data solutions.
- Troubleshoot pipeline issues, support root cause analysis, and improve automation, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, CI/CD deployments, and technical documentation.
- Communicate progress and blockers, manage shifting priorities, and help teams use data products effectively.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Experience building and maintaining production ETL/ELT pipelines, data workflows, and data models.
- Proficiency with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL, and Python.
- Understanding of data modeling, database normalization, and data warehouse or data lake concepts.
- Experience with cloud data platforms; Azure is preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to deliver quality work amid changing priorities.
- Cloud experience a plus
The salary range for this role starts at $105,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined according to the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
