Senior Data Engineer and Platform Architect (m/f/d), Application Integration
WWK Lebensversicherung a. G. is seeking an experienced professional to help shape modern, service-oriented data and application integration processes. Join a collaborative team and contribute your expertise to the continued development of our Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS).
About The Company
WWK Versicherungsgruppe is one of Germany’s longest-established and most innovative insurance companies. As an independent, financially strong, and growth-oriented financial services provider, WWK is a market leader in unit-linked life insurance. Our relationships with both customers and employees are central to our company culture, reflected in our motto: “A strong community.” We value the expertise and commitment of our employees and believe they are essential to delivering excellent customer experiences. At WWK, you will find an established organization with a forward-looking approach and opportunities to contribute to meaningful technology initiatives.
About The Role
As Senior Data Engineer and Platform Architect for Application Integration, you will take responsibility for the secure, reliable exchange of data between IT applications across the organization. You will analyze requirements, design and implement integration processes, and help ensure that our iPaaS platform remains stable, well-documented, and ready for future needs. Working closely with developers, platform architects, business stakeholders, external partners, and software vendors, you will guide integration initiatives from initial requirements through testing and successful production deployment. This role combines hands-on integration engineering with architectural ownership and stakeholder collaboration.
Qualifications
You have a degree in computer science, business information systems, mathematics, or a comparable IT-related qualification. You bring substantial professional experience developing and architecting data and application integration solutions, along with in-depth knowledge of API management and web services, including SOAP and REST. Experience with iPaaS products such as Boomi, Informatica, or MuleSoft is important; an interest in productive, configuration-based low-code solutions will be valuable. You can work confidently with complex processes, assess technical options analytically, and approach challenges in a systematic and structured way. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and an independent, solutions-oriented approach are essential. You are fluent in German and confident communicating in English. An interest in insurance-related topics and business processes is welcome.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of data exchange between business and IT applications, and analyze, model, and implement integration processes on the iPaaS platform. Develop and evaluate solution concepts that meet business needs while adhering to established architecture, security, and quality standards. Contribute to the platform’s long-term architecture and strategic direction, working closely with iPaaS developers and architects responsible for other systems. Partner with internal stakeholders across business functions to clarify requirements, coordinate implementation, support testing, and guide solutions into production. Maintain comprehensive documentation for the integration platform and help ensure the stability and reliability of the application integration environment. Monitor industry developments and work with the platform vendor to support ongoing platform improvement.
Benefits
Join a collegial team and work with a modern, configurable Boomi iPaaS platform, comparable to solutions from Informatica and MuleSoft. WWK provides the training and thorough onboarding needed to help you become effective on the platform. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, business departments, external partners, and software providers. The employment package includes 14 monthly salaries per year, 31 days of annual leave, a 38-hour work week with overtime compensation, occupational pension provision, home-office options, a public transport pass, capital-forming benefits, and parking.
Equal Opportunity
WWK welcomes motivated and committed applicants who are ready to take on challenging work and contribute to a strong, collaborative community. We value professional expertise, respectful cooperation, and the different perspectives people bring to our organization. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter, résumé, certificates, and their earliest possible start date.
