Your Role

This is a 24 month full-time foxed-term contract.

The Data Engineer plays a key role in designing, building and maintaining the data pipelines, platforms and data assets that enable Flybuys to deliver trusted insights, scalable data products and reliable partner and member outcomes.

Working closely with product managers, analysts, data specialists, technology teams and business stakeholders, the Data Engineer ensures data solutions are reliable, secure, well-governed and fit for use across analytics, reporting, personalisation, campaign execution and decision-making.

• Expand and optimise data and data pipeline architecture, including data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build new API integrations to support increasing data volume and complexity.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increase data accessibility and support data-driven decision-making.
• Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, data security and availability for key stakeholders and business processes.
• Write unit and integration tests, and contribute to engineering wiki content and technical documentation.
• Build data pipelines and infrastructure for extracting, transforming and loading data from a wide variety of sources using Snowflake on an AWS stack.
• Design, construct, install, test and maintain data management systems, data integrations and data quality frameworks.
• Develop repeatable processes for data mining, data modelling and data production.
• Assemble large and complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Keep partner data separated and secure within the Flybuys domain across multiple Snowflake databases and shares.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering and delivery team members, including Delivery Managers, Enterprise Architects and Software Engineers, to deliver project goals.
• Identify, design and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Work with data and analytics experts to increase the functionality and usefulness of data systems.
• Work closely with colleagues to innovate data pipeline design and delivery.
• Ensure new and legacy applications meet quality standards.
• Write clean, sustainable code that can be maintained and reused in the future.
• Work closely with business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long-term data platform architecture.
• Ensure data solutions meet business and company requirements, as well as relevant industry practices.
• Integrate emerging data management and software engineering technologies into existing data structures where appropriate.
• Recommend changes and enhancements to data management systems.
• Keep up to date with new terminology, concepts and best practices in data management technologies.
• Create training materials and documentation for development best practices.
  
  

Your Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology and/or Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ETL/ELT, with data modelling, business intelligence and/or data warehousing knowledge highly regarded.
• Relevant experience in data management technologies such as Snowflake, Oracle and Postgres is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of cloud platform services, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Hands-on experience working with SQL, Java, R, Python, Bash or other scripting languages.
• Experience with visualisation tools such as Power BI is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated experience working in an Agile-based, fast-paced and complex environment within cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with analytics and data science teams to support the execution of machine learning, AI and advanced analytics is a plus.
