🚀 Tonic3 is hiring: Data Engineer — Microsoft Fabric & Data Pipelines
📌 Part-time | Hourly engagement
🌎 Strong written and spoken English required
At Tonic3, we’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer with strong expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem to support client proposals and enterprise project execution.
You’ll design, build, and optimize automated data pipelines, extracting data from multiple enterprise sources, developing validation and transformation scripts, and implementing a Medallion Architecture with Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
Working with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, you’ll create reliable datasets for enterprise analytics and dashboards built in Microsoft Power BI directly on top of Microsoft Fabric.
What you’ll do:
• Data Pipeline Architecture & Engineering: Design, build, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to extract data from operational systems, REST APIs, databases, and flat files into the cloud environment.
• Medallion Architecture Implementation: Establish and maintain a Data Lake/Lakehouse framework with Bronze (raw intake), Silver (cleansed and validated), and Gold (business-ready, aggregated) storage layers.
• Scripting, Transformation & Validation: Develop and execute automated scripts using Python, PySpark, and SQL to validate schema compliance, enforce data quality rules, and resolve inconsistencies.
• Target Data Loading & Data Modeling: Stage and structure target data repositories to optimize query performance, data modeling, and direct integration with Microsoft Power BI.
• Microsoft Platform Integration: Use Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake Storage to orchestrate workflows and monitor data processing pipelines.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, and BI Analysts to align deliverables with client reporting and business logic requirements.
What we’re looking for:
• Strong written and spoken English to collaborate with clients and teams and clearly explain technical concepts.
• Hands-on experience building, scheduling, and monitoring automated ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience implementing Data Lake and Medallion Architecture patterns, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Strong proficiency in Python or PySpark and advanced SQL for data manipulation, extraction, and script execution.
• Solid experience within the Microsoft Cloud and Azure data ecosystem.
• Experience with data quality validation, error handling, and loading data into target locations for downstream consumption.
• Familiarity with data modeling requirements for Microsoft Power BI reporting.
• Availability for a part-time, hourly engagement.
Nice to have:
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, and Synapse Data Engineering.
• Microsoft certifications such as DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate), DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer), or AZ-104 (Azure Administrator).
• Experience in Agile environments with client-facing deliverables and Statement of Work (SOW) milestones.
