ABOUT THE ROLE Compal is a leading innovator dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering advanced solutions to our clients. We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer who processes and analyzes large-scale datasets to improve software performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering within the automotive industry. This role will contribute to developing high-performance, high robustness and high reliability far-infrared (FIR) sensors and innovative AI solutions for implementing advanced safety vehicles in the next generation. Key Responsibilities Data analysis, management, and data utilization of ADAS/AD Software Verification and Validation of the AI algorithm performance and characteristic and KPI measurements Defining the experimental design, sample size, and validation conditions Plan for managing and organization of the data collection and database Support data collection activities and creating corner cases for improving AI algorithms Statistical analysis, results reporting, and creating improvement proposals Creation of AI training dataset, improvement, and quality enhancement Collaborate with other departments to promote “KAIZEN” in data management and utilization. Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering Experience in ADAS systems development or embedded Linux development Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data analysis Experience in developing or evaluating image recognition AI systems (object detection and 3D depth estimation, tracking, fusion) Leadership ability to manage challenges Native-level Japanese speaker. Intermediate English speaker (preferred) skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience in evaluation/verification/validation using actual vehicles (AD/ADAS functions preferred) and experience in using CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, etc Experience in domestic and international regulatory compliance and type approval Experience in simulation evaluation using HILS (dSPACE) etc. Knowledge of UN R regulations, Japanese safety standards, type approval processes, and test conditions of Euro-NCAP, J-NCAP, FMVSS Skills in implementing data processing and test support tools using Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, etc. Self-motivated, self-starter, proactive, patient, and results-driven Strong team players who can collaborate effectively across multiple internal and external stakeholders globally and show respect for individuals Enjoys hands-on work Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Familiarity with thermal infrared systems and algorithms is a plus What We Offer: Great experience of working as a member of a global/international team Opportunities to contribute to innovative projects and make a meaningful impact in the automotive industry and realizing a safe and secure society A dynamic and collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional development and continuous learning A competitive compensation package Compal USA (Indiana) Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a workplace free from harassment and discrimination.
