Salary: R40,000 – R80,000+ per month, depending on experience

Introduction

We are recruiting experienced Data Engineers with Snowflake experience for a well-established international data analytics and technology solutions company with operations in South Africa and the United Kingdom.

The successful candidates will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining cloud-based data warehouses, scalable data architectures and data integration pipelines.

Ideally, candidates should have at least 5 years of data engineering experience. However, exceptional candidates with fewer years of experience and strong technical capabilities will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based data warehouses using Snowflake.
• Build, maintain and optimise ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures and data transformations.
• Use Python for data processing, automation and engineering activities.
• Design and maintain data models for reporting, analytics and business intelligence.
• Integrate data from multiple sources and manage large, complex datasets.
• Troubleshoot and optimise SQL queries, database performance and data pipelines.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency and quality.
• Collaborate with data analysts, developers and technical stakeholders.
• Document technical processes, data architectures and solution designs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering practices and solutions.

Minimum Requirements

• Approximately 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related technical role (exceptional candidates with less experience considered).
• Hands-on Snowflake experience is essential.
• Strong advanced SQL development and performance optimisation skills.
• Practical Python programming experience.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling and database technologies.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources.
• Understanding of modern cloud-based data engineering principles.
• Experience with dbt will be highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within technical teams.

Package and Remuneration

Remuneration will depend on technical expertise, relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities.

• Junior / Intermediate Data Engineers: Approximately R40,000 – R50,000 per month.
• Senior Data Engineers: Approximately R60,000 – R80,000 per month.
• Exceptional Senior Candidates: Packages above R80,000 per month may be considered.

Remuneration for London-based opportunities will be discussed separately.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid working arrangement.
• Opportunities available in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and London.
• Flexibility to accommodate business requirements outside standard office hours when necessary.
• Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Recruitment Process
