An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Integrity Officer to join Cifas and play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of our databases. Combining analysis, investigation and attention to detail, the role will review data and emerging trends, respond to consumer complaints in line with data protection legislation, and identify improvements that strengthen the quality and accuracy of information held within our databases.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside industry specialists, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Providing expert guidance to Cifas members on data processes, delivering a positive member experience and maintaining trust and confidence in Cifas services.
  • Reviewing cases and matches to ensure the required standard of proof has been met, results are returned correctly through the relevant delivery channel, and appropriate action is taken to maintain high-quality data.
  • Managing and resolving consumer complaints consistently and professionally, working with members where appropriate and representing Cifas in line with our values.
  • Managing escalated Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and review members’ Fair Processing Notices, ensuring data is handled and filed in accordance with relevant legislation and has an appropriate legal basis.
  • Proactively identifying data-quality issues, patterns, anomalies and root causes within Cifas databases, working collaboratively with colleagues and using management information to support effective resolution.
  • Recommending improvements to processes and data practices, identifying inefficiencies and clearly demonstrating the value and impact of proposed changes.
  • Making informed and considered decisions across cases, complaints, DSARs and Fair Processing Notices, clearly communicating the rationale to members, consumers and other stakeholders within agreed service levels.
  • Representing the Data Integrity Officer team at Cifas project and product development meetings, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring Data Integrity Operations considerations are effectively represented.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A degree or equivalent level qualification, or relevant professional experience within fraud prevention, financial crime, data integrity or a related environment.
  • A strong understanding of fraud prevention, financial crime, the use of Cifas data and relevant Data Protection legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge of Cifas Handbooks, systems and how members access and use Cifas data.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with excellent attention to detail and the tenacity to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and appropriately challenge with tact and diplomacy.
  • The confidence to take ownership, exercise sound judgement and work collaboratively, while demonstrating integrity, empathy, confidentiality and professionalism.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to agreed service levels, deadlines and team targets, alongside strong Microsoft 365 skills, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.
