Data Reporting Assistant

Tech Pipeline helps operations teams fix the broken middle of their business processes by getting into the logs and fixing broken routing rules. We are currently working with a sovereign investment group to ensure their data flow is accurate and their reporting systems actually reflect the ground truth of their transactions. This Data Reporting Assistant position is a fully remote role dedicated to maintaining clarity and accuracy in complex systems.

About the role
The sovereign investment group handles a massive volume of data across various asset classes, but their current reporting pipeline suffers from friction where different systems fail to speak the same language. You will help us identify where these numbers drift and why reconciliation is still happening manually in spreadsheets. The work is not about high level strategy: it is about the daily reality of tracing a specific data point from its source to the final report. This role is built for someone who likes to open the system, see where the logic breaks, and help us bridge the gap between the tools the client already owns and what actually needs to get done.

What you will be doing

• Reviewing daily error logs to find where data transfers failed between the investment platform and the reporting tool.
• Updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) whenever we fix a routing rule to ensure the client team knows how to maintain it.
• Performing manual data checks to confirm that the figures in the dashboard match the raw source of truth.
• Cleaning up backlogs of incorrectly tagged entries that are blocking automated workflows.
• Assisting our specialists in tracing the path of a transaction through the middle layers of the tech stack.
• Documenting the specific logic gaps you find in the current approval chains that cause delays.
• Drafting clear, plain English summaries for the client on why a particular report was delayed or inaccurate.
• Monitoring data reconciliation folders to ensure that automated scripts have run successfully overnight.

What we need from you

• A basic understanding of how data moves between systems, such as how a spreadsheet might export information to a database.
• The ability to stay focused while checking long lists of entries for small discrepancies or missing characters.
• Clear and direct writing skills to explain technical issues to people who are not technical experts.
• Comfort using basic formulas in Excel or Google Sheets to compare different sets of information.
• A willingness to admit when you do not know the answer and a curiosity to look at the logs until you find it.
• Strong organization skills to manage tasks and documentation across a fully remote work day.
• A preference for concrete tasks with clear outcomes rather than abstract planning.

Helpful background

• Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role where accuracy and data entry were priorities.
• A basic introduction to SQL or another tool used to query information from a database.
• Exposure to financial terms or basic understanding of how investment reporting works.
• Experience working in a remote setting using asynchronous communication tools like Slack or Notion.
