About The Company
020 Cisco Systems, Inc. is a global technology company connecting and protecting organizations through solutions that support the physical and digital worlds. For 40 years, Cisco has developed technology that helps people and organizations work together, with security, visibility, and insights across digital environments. Cisco’s teams collaborate across a worldwide network of experts to create meaningful solutions and make a broad impact. The company encourages employees to experiment, learn, and contribute their perspectives as it builds technology for the AI era and beyond.
About The Role
Cisco is seeking an experienced AI Data Scientist / Data Analyst to join the Silicon One Hardware Engineering team in San Jose, California. This hybrid position is based in Cisco’s San Jose office three days per week. You will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI agent technologies to semiconductor manufacturing challenges, including yield analysis, yield debugging, and predictive modeling. Your work will help improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and time-to-market while supporting efforts to manage test costs. The application window is expected to close on November 30, 2026.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field, and at least eight years of experience in data science, machine learning, or data analytics. Semiconductor or hardware engineering experience is preferred. Candidates should have strong Python skills and proficiency with data science libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
You should have experience building, validating, and deploying models for classification, regression, anomaly detection, and time-series forecasting, as well as practical experience with AI agent frameworks and automated data analysis workflows. A solid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, test data, and yield analysis is required. Experience using visualization tools such as matplotlib, seaborn, Tableau, or Power BI is also expected. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, or big data technologies; Optuna or similar hyperparameter optimization frameworks; and hardware debugging, root cause analysis, or reliability engineering. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, and maintain AI and machine learning models for yield analysis, yield debugging, and early failure prediction. Design predictive models to forecast yield and quality metrics at multiple stages of the manufacturing flow. Build and optimize AI agents that automate data-driven root cause analysis and support yield improvement initiatives.
Analyze large-scale manufacturing, test, and parametric datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and actionable opportunities. Work closely with hardware, test, and process engineering teams to understand business and technical needs and convert them into reliable data science solutions. Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional partners through clear visualizations, reports, and presentations. Stay informed about advances in AI, machine learning, data analytics, and semiconductor manufacturing practices.
Benefits
The anticipated starting salary range for new hires in U.S. and/or Canada locations is $186,900 to $267,700, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits. Pay depends on location, market conditions, skills, experience, education, and other job-related qualifications. Additional location-specific ranges may apply, including $186,900 to $307,800 for the New York City metro area and $166,300 to $274,100 for non-metro New York and Washington state.
Eligible U.S. employees may receive medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) plan with Cisco matching contributions; parental leave; disability coverage; life insurance; and, where applicable, restricted stock units and annual bonuses. Time away may include paid holidays, a year-end shutdown, wellness days, vacation or flexible time off depending on employee classification, sick time, and volunteer time. Benefits and programs are subject to applicable plan terms and Cisco policies.
Equal Opportunity
Cisco values the unique backgrounds and perspectives employees bring to their work. The company fosters a collaborative environment where people can learn, contribute, and do their best work together. Employment decisions and benefit eligibility are subject to applicable laws, company policies, and plan requirements.
