The opportunity
Join our Group Data & Analytics team and help build the cloud infrastructure behind B2 Impact's data, analytics and AI solutions.
As we continue to develop our data and analytics capabilities across Europe, we're looking for a Data Solutions Infrastructure Specialist who enjoys turning technical challenges into practical, reliable solutions.
This is a hands-on engineering role embedded in our Group Data & Analytics team. You'll bridge the gap between solution delivery and underlying cloud infrastructure, helping our teams resolve infrastructure dependencies earlier and deliver solutions more efficiently.
Working closely with Group IT, you'll design, implement, test and improve the infrastructure needed for data, analytics, machine learning and AI solutions, while operating within established cloud platform standards and security requirements.
You'll be part of an international team where collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are key. Your expertise will make a real impact on how we develop and deliver data solutions across B2 Impact.
What you will do
Design and implement secure, scalable and resilient infrastructure for D&A solutions in development and pre-production environments, within agreed standards and guardrails
Build and maintain infrastructure for D&A platforms and use cases, including our Group Data Lakehouse (GDLH), Airflow, Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Foundry and related Azure services
Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated delivery practices to create repeatable, reviewable and consistent environments, including appropriate infrastructure tests and validation checks
Create sandbox environments and proofs of concept, and contribute infrastructure expertise during project discovery, solution design and technical discussions
Prepare production-ready pull requests, change documentation and supporting evidence for review and approval by Group IT Cloud Architecture and Cloud Operations
Improve observability and reliability through monitoring, alerting, diagnostic access and permanent corrective actions following incidents or recurring failures
Work closely with data engineers, analytics teams and Group IT to resolve infrastructure dependencies and support efficient solution delivery
Your profile
We are looking for a hands-on cloud infrastructure engineer with strong technical expertise, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively across teams.
Technical skills and competencies
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services, or equivalent expertise with other cloud providers
Advanced practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably Terraform and/or Bicep, including code review, modularisation, testing and controlled promotion across environments
Experience with CI/CD, Azure DevOps or equivalent delivery tooling, pull-request workflows and automated validation
Solid understanding of Azure networking, DNS, identity, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, private connectivity and environment-level access controls
Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and operational diagnostics for cloud workloads
Working knowledge of containers and cloud-native platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
Ability to produce clear technical documentation, environment specifications, runbooks and change documentation
It would also be an advantage if you have:
Experience supporting data platforms, orchestration, machine learning or AI infrastructure, with familiarity with Airflow, Delta Lake, Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Fabric or Microsoft Foundry
Knowledge of cloud architecture best practices, such as the Well-Architected Framework or Cloud Adoption Framework, and architecture patterns such as event-driven architectures
Experience and personal profile:
Relevant professional experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering or a closely related role
Demonstrated ownership of cloud infrastructure changes from design and implementation through testing, documentation and operational handover
A practical engineering mindset focused on prevention, automation and durable fixes rather than repeated manual escalation
Ability to diagnose complex issues across infrastructure, networking, permissions and application dependencies
Sound judgement in balancing delivery speed, security, reliability, compliance and cloud costs
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams and explain complex topics clearly
Comfortable working with ambiguity, taking initiative and making ownership, risks and dependencies explicit
Experience in a regulated, multi-country or enterprise environment is beneficial. A strong cloud engineering foundation is more important than previous experience with every D&A tool.
Additional information
The role is part of our Group Data & Analytics team, reporting to the Group Head of Data & Analytics and working closely with our Group IT Cloud Centre of Excellence.
