The Data Steward is accountable for enabling and embedding the organizations’ Data Stewardship Framework across Commercial program-relevant data domains, ensuring its principles and practices are adopted and sustained within the business. The role focuses on activating data ownership, stewardship processes, governance structures, business rules, and data quality standards as defined in the guide, scoped to data assets created or significantly changed by the program. Working across business, regional, digital, data, and program teams, the role ensures these assets are governed, maintained, and utilized in a consistent and sustainable manner. Data Steward role will support the transition of program delivered data assets into business-as-usual stewardship, leaving behind an embedded operating model aligned with the existing Business Data Stewardship Guide.

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Embed Data Governance: Enable and embed the Business Data Stewardship Framework, ensuring its principles, standards, and quality requirements are consistently adopted across all workstreams and regions.
  • Establish Governance Processes: Setup stewardship processes, forums, and escalation paths to support program delivery and resolve data issues within scope.
  • Define Data Rules & Standards: Develop, document, and champion business rules, standards, and data definitions for program-relevant assets to ensure consistency and integrity.
  • Manage Data Quality Metrics & Monitoring: Define, establish, and maintain data quality metrics and monitoring processes in collaboration with business and technical teams.
  • Drive Data Quality Improvements: Assess data quality maturity, identify risks or gaps, and manage a prioritized backlog of improvements to drive resolution.
  • Foster Collaboration & Trust: Build strong relationships across business, regional, digital, and data teams to represent data requirements and act as a trusted advisor on stewardship.
  • Promote Data Culture: Advocate for clear data ownership accountability and support a data-driven culture through education and practical enablement.
  • Lead BAU Transition: Manage the sustainable transition of program-delivered data assets to BAU owners, including onboarding, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Report Progress: Regularly report progress and updates through established program governance forums.

  • SQL knowledge, sufficient to query, interpret, and validate data independently.
  • Experience activating or embedding governance frameworks, stewardship processes, or ownership models - ideally within an existing framework rather than building from scratch.
