Senior Database Administrator - Must be based in Brazil

Why should you join Intelex Technologies?

As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) at Intelex Technologies, you’ll play an important role in the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of the data platforms behind our mission-critical SaaS applications.

Working within our Cloud Operations team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence database architecture and operational standards across global AWS and Azure environments. You’ll collaborate with engineering, platform, cloud operations, and security teams to solve complex challenges, modernize our database capabilities, and use automation to build more resilient and scalable services.

What this role entails?

  • Own and optimize database platforms: Design, implement, administer, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments while supporting Oracle environments as needed. Help establish standards for schema design, indexing, query optimization, database governance, and operational excellence.
  • Drive performance and scalability: Proactively analyze execution plans, tune queries, optimize indexing strategies, and resolve database performance bottlenecks. Apply technologies and approaches such as partitioning, replication, and caching to improve performance and data access.
  • Strengthen reliability and resiliency: Design and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including Microsoft Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and Oracle Data Guard. Lead capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies, and automated failover and recovery testing.
  • Advance automation and database DevOps: Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines, including automated schema migrations and rollback processes. Use Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, along with PowerShell, Python, or Bash, to automate provisioning, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and alerting. Support observability using tools such as Redgate, New Relic, and PagerDuty.
  • Protect and support critical services: Implement role-based access control, encryption, auditing, and database security practices supporting applicable SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and HIPAA requirements. Partner with security teams on vulnerability mitigation, participate in a rotational on-call schedule, and conduct root-cause analysis to prevent recurring database incidents.

You’ll work as a senior technical contributor within Cloud Operations, partnering closely with engineering, platform, cloud, and security colleagues. You’ll also contribute to architecture and design reviews and help shape database standards and modernization initiatives.

What we are looking for?

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant experience managing enterprise database platforms, with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration; experience supporting Oracle environments is an asset.
  • Strong expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution-plan analysis, combined with hands-on experience in replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations.
  • Experience designing and maintaining backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies for business-critical database environments.
  • Proficiency with T-SQL and SQL scripting; PL/SQL experience is valuable. Hands-on automation experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash is also important.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Personal and collaboration skills

  • You approach complex production challenges with a structured, analytical, and problem-solving mindset.
  • You communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across engineering, cloud operations, platform, and security teams.
  • You balance immediate operational needs with long-term reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • You take ownership while sharing knowledge and helping strengthen standards and best practices across the organization.
  • You’re comfortable working in a dynamic SaaS environment and participating in a rotational on-call schedule.

What you’ll get?

At Intelex, we believe great work starts with supporting our people. As part of our team in Brazil, you’ll have access to a competitive benefits package designed to support your health, wellbeing, development, and work-life balance, including:
