Database Engineer – French & English

We are currently looking for a Database Engineer to join an enterprise IT environment and take responsibility for the availability, stability, performance, and security of critical database platforms.

You’ll work with a broad technology landscape including DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Couchbase, while contributing to monitoring, automation, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Project information:

• Location: Katowice (Hybrid work model: 2 days from the office, 3 days remotly)
• Type of employment: standard employment contract
• Project languages: French and English

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of enterprise database environments.
• Design and implement monitoring solutions, performance indicators, and reliability metrics.
• Administer and maintain enterprise database environments using technologies such as DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
• Manage and improve backup and recovery processes, including automation.
• Support change management and contribute to system enhancements.
• Investigate and resolve complex database incidents and performance issues.
• Maintain administrative procedures and ensure compliance with data security standards.
• Provide 2nd-line technical support.
• Optimize database structures, configurations, and overall performance.
• Collaborate with application development teams, including participation in database architecture reviews.
• Contribute to the design of resilient database infrastructure and define required hardware and software solutions.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of database design and architecture principles.
• Hands-on experience with database management systems.
• Experience managing database environments across their full lifecycle, including implementation, maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of database monitoring and key performance indicators affecting reliability and scalability.
• Experience working with high-availability database solutions.
• Practical experience with one or more of: DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
• Ability to define hardware and software requirements for resilient database infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting application development projects and reviewing database architecture.
• Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization.
• French at C1 level or higher.
• Good command of English for working in an international IT environment.
