WHY WE NEED YOU?
Driven by our continuous growth and expanding high-density infrastructure, we are looking for a Datacenter Field Operations Manager responsible for leading on-site IT operational support and field services across Scaleway datacenters.
Acting as the key operational relay between our datacenter sites and central teams, your core mission will be to directly oversee the field organization across our 2 Parisian clusters:
-
Paris North Cluster (Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône)
-
Paris South Cluster (Vitry-sur-Seine)
You will have direct hierarchical management over both Team Leaders and all Datacenter IT Technicians across these sites (approx. 8 to 10 people in total). You will ensure operational uptime and service performance, guarantee strict alignment with our KPIs/SLAs, manage relationships with key hardware and service suppliers on the ground, and continuously drive process improvements as we rapidly scale our production teams.
YOUR FUTURE TEAM
We work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment centered on service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
-
Your Direct Team & Reporting Lines: You will directly line-manage a total team of 8 to 10 field members structured across 2 clusters: Paris North & Paris South Clusters.
-
Cross-functional Collaboration: You will partner closely with internal stakeholders (Supply, Deployment, Hardware Support, Product Engineering) and external hardware/service suppliers.
-
Your future management structure: You will report directly to the Datacenter Operations Manager.
-
Work Location & Environment: Office-based in Paris, with regular travel and hands-on presence across our Parisian datacenter clusters, visits to supplier facilities, and occasional international travel.
YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
-
Direct Team Management & People Development: Lead and mentor the Team Leaders and Technicians across both clusters (8–10 people). Set clear operational goals, conduct performance reviews, support career progression, and foster cohesive, accountable on-site teams.
-
Operational Relay & KPI Tracking: Serve as the primary field operational anchor for central teams. Ensure end-to-end delivery of on-site IT operations, monitor SLA/KPI adherence, build reporting dashboards, and deploy rapid corrective action plans when bottlenecks arise.
-
Scale & Workforce Planning: Organize shifts, rotations, and capacity planning across both sites to support growing High-Performance Computing (HPC) demands and ensure round-the-clock site operational readiness.
-
Supplier & Vendor Management: Act as the primary field contact for hardware vendors and service providers, enforcing strict on-site SLAs, quality compliance, and intervention safety.
-
Cross-Functional Coordination: Align on-site execution with Supply, Deploy, Hardware Support, and Product Engineering initiatives to support company-wide production milestones.
-
Tooling & Asset Governance: Supervise ticketing workflows, inventory movements, and operational logs using Jira Service Management, Odoo, and Google Sheets.
ABOUT YOU
HARD SKILLS:
-
Experience: Proven experience in IT field operations or datacenter supervision, ready to take on multi-site management.
-
Direct People Management: Practical experience managing small technical teams and/or team leaders, with strong skills in coaching, shift management, and performance tracking.
-
Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to track and enforce field SLAs/KPIs and maintain high compliance in regulated, high-security datacenter environments.
-
Vendor Supervision: Solid track record in supervising on-site third-party vendors, contractors, and hardware suppliers.
-
Tools & OS: Proficient with ticketing and inventory platforms (Jira Service Management, Odoo, Google Sheets).
-
Mobility: Valid driver's license (Permis B) for frequent travel between our North and South Parisian clusters.
SOFT SKILLS:
-
Field Ownership & Service Mindset: Deeply hands-on, accountable for real-world site outcomes and dedicated to service reliability.
-
Clear Communication & Relay: Exceptional interpersonal skills to smoothly connect on-site operational realities with central engineering and management teams.
-
Anticipation & Pragmatism: Capacity to monitor metrics, proactively spot operational friction on the DC floor, and implement lean process enhancements.
-
Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable driving results and leading people within a fast-scaling, demanding tech environment.
