Job Overview
The DDAI Intern – AI and Process Automation will help develop and operationalize an AI-assisted solution that improves the request and agreement execution process. Working with business and technical stakeholders, the intern will translate process requirements into a practical automation solution that reduces manual effort and supports reliable human review.
The internship will focus on one selected second-generation automation project, with opportunities to contribute to related initiatives as time and project readiness allow. This work builds on a planned unified web-based request process that routes requests to onboarding, the Project Management Office (PMO), or further review when budget is unavailable.
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with DDAI stakeholders to map the current process, identify manual steps, and define requirements and success measures for the selected project.
- Review contracts, proposals, and request documents to identify information that can support automated checks, routing, or accrual preparation.
- Build and test an AI-assisted prototype using approved tools, and refine it through stakeholder feedback.
- Validate extracted information and generated outputs against source documents; identify exceptions and establish checkpoints for human review.
- Support integration with existing request workflows and the evolving legal review process, in coordination with process owners.
- Document the solution, test results, limitations, and operating steps; present findings and provide a handover for continued use.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Pursuing a degree in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or a related technical field, or demonstrating equivalent technical skills through projects.
- Foundational programming or scripting skills and an ability to work with structured and unstructured data.
- Familiarity with generative AI concepts and an interest in applying AI to document analysis and business process automation.
- Ability to break a business problem into clear requirements, build a working prototype, and test results carefully.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify missing information, inconsistencies, and exceptions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical work to business stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate, manage an agreed project scope, and handle confidential business documents responsibly.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Coursework or project experience in Python, APIs, document extraction, workflow automation, or web-based applications.
- Experience testing AI outputs, designing prompts, or evaluating the accuracy of extracted information.
- Interest in procurement, contract management, financial operations, or project management processes.
General Intern Information – Date/Location/Schedule
Internships will take place over 10 weeks from June – August 2027. This role will be based in Princeton, NJ and operate on a required hybrid schedule – 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week. This role is not eligible for work visa sponsorship at the time of the application or in the future.
