About Appvia

Appvia is a specialist cloud, platform, and solutions engineering consultancy, helping organisations modernise infrastructure, improve reliability, and adopt cloud-native practices that enable long-term, sustainable delivery.

Our engineering capability spans AWS, Azure, platform engineering, networking, software, data, AI, delivery, and managed services.

We work across complex, high-impact environments in both the public and private sector, where security, resilience, operational excellence, and service quality are critical.

About the Role

We're looking for a Delivery Manager to join Appvia on a secure public sector engagement, supporting a programme that keeps critical services running for organisations right across the UK.

You'll work with multidisciplinary agile teams, helping them plan, prioritise and deliver in short, regular increments. You'll run the ceremonies that matter (planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives), keep the backlog in shape with the product owner, and clear blockers out of the team's way before they've finished saying "blocked".

You'll keep dependencies, risks and milestones in view across teams and delivery partners, and turn delivery data into reports people actually read. Burn-up charts, cycle time and the RAID log should feel like old friends.

The programme is going through a period of transition and continuous improvement, so there are plenty of moving parts and plenty of stakeholders, from technical teams to delivery partners. You'll help apply the customer's delivery methods and standards in a way that is proportionate, not painful, and bring agile ways of working to the places they'll make the biggest difference.

You don't need to be an agile expert on day one. You do need solid, hands-on experience of agile delivery and a real appetite to become an expert. You'll work alongside experienced delivery leads at Appvia, learn by doing on a complex, high-profile programme, and have the room to grow your craft.

We like people who automate the boring bits. If you've ever built a Jira dashboard or an Excel formula that saved someone a day a week, we'd like to hear about it.

You probably won't enjoy this role if you think a stand-up should last 45 minutes, or "I'll update the board later" counts as a plan.

Interview Process - 2 Stage

  1. Discovery conversation with Talent Acquisition
  2. Final interview with Appvia / customer-facing leadership

Important

You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC). Active SC and NPPV3 are highly desirable.

About You

You're a Delivery Manager with hands-on experience of agile delivery in technical teams. You're organised, proactive and detail-oriented, and you want to grow into an expert agile practitioner.

You will bring:

  • Hands-on experience as a Delivery Manager, Scrum Master, or agile project manager in technical or digital teams
  • Practical experience of Scrum, Kanban, or both, including running sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Experience working with product owners to shape, refine, and prioritise backlogs
  • Experience managing milestones, outcomes, and dependencies across multiple teams and delivery partners
  • Experience using Jira to plan, track, and report delivery
  • Experience using delivery data, such as velocity, cycle time, and burn-up charts, to spot problems early and keep stakeholders informed
  • Experience running RAID logs, working with risk owners, and escalating issues when needed
  • An understanding of how agile delivery fits within wider programme governance and project controls
  • Strong Excel skills, including using formulas to automate data and reporting
  • Experience of relationship management and working with a variety of delivery partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to facilitate sessions and challenge constructively
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own time and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Eligibility for UK SC clearance

  • Work with the product owner to keep the backlog refined, prioritised, and ready for delivery
  • Remove blockers and protect the team's focus
  • Coach the team and stakeholders on agile ways of working, and help the team improve every sprint

Planning and dependencies

  • Maintain the delivery roadmap and release plan, tracking milestones, outcomes, and dependencies
  • Coordinate dependencies across teams, delivery partners, and other programmes

Monitoring and reporting

  • Track delivery using agile metrics and report progress to the programme and senior stakeholders
  • Produce clear, honest reporting that shows what's done, what's next, and what's at risk
