We build on Elsevier’s strong content position and relationships with healthcare professionals to help our clients reach their desired audience with best-in-class clinical content that only Elsevier can deliver. We are leaders in what we do

About the Role

The Delivery Owner is primarily responsible for delivering Global Pharma products to customers. Typically specializing in one or more products while understanding deliverables across all of them, they work only on products approved by pre-delivery owners and ensure delivery is high quality and on schedule. Reporting to the Product Delivery Lead, they proactively flag delivery control issues, hand off deliverables with the agreed proof of delivery to Post-Delivery Owners for checks, and help document delivery procedures for old and new products. They strive to improve agreed KPIs through continuous improvement and standardized delivery across regions, may interact with customers to clarify deliverables, and manage multiple priorities, AI adoption and complexity while collaborating closely with Pre-Delivery Owners, Post-Delivery Owners and other Delivery Owners for end-to-end delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end product delivery from completion of pre-delivery approvals through successful customer delivery, building strong expertise in assigned Global Pharma products while remaining flexible to support other products as business needs and volumes require.
  • Ensure delivery readiness and compliance by validating that editorial decisions, approvals, customer requirements and other prerequisites are complete before starting delivery, proactively challenging or escalating any gaps.
  • Manage stakeholders and delivery dependencies by working closely with Pre-delivery and Post-delivery Owners and coordinating with publishers, printers, Journal Managers, Editors, Compliance and other relevant stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve issues and ensure successful delivery.
  • Complete delivery closure and enable timely billing by accurately documenting Proof of Delivery, providing the required information for invoicing and collaborating with Post-delivery Owners to resolve customer billing queries.
  • Track and control delivery performance using appropriate tools and dashboards to monitor actual delivery times, turnaround times, volumes, quality, compliance and agreed metrics, supporting predictable delivery and revenue forecasting.
  • Drive continuous improvement, AI adoption and innovation by identifying opportunities to simplify and standardise processes, reduce manual effort and duplication, and responsibly leverage approved AI, automation and existing Elsevier tools and dashboards to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality and predictability, while sharing successful practices and demonstrating measurable benefits.
  • Proactively manage priorities, workload and delivery risks by keeping the Product Delivery Lead informed of status, timelines, dependencies and workload; escalating potential delays early; maintaining accuracy and process compliance during high-volume periods; and collaborating with other Delivery Owners to balance workloads and maintain continuity.
  • Define, document and continuously maintain delivery processes for existing and new products, ensuring clear controls and hand-offs and keeping SOPs, RASCIs process documentation and product knowledge current, shareable and accessible through the agreed central knowledge repository.

Requirement

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in operational delivery and/or project management, with demonstrated capability in managing complex deliverables, senior stakeholders, priorities and competing business requirements.
  • Strong technical and professional expertise, with the ability to apply in-depth knowledge within own area while working effectively across multiple products, functions and projects. Knowledge of journal production workflows, systems and applications is desirable/
  • Strong understanding of compliance and risk, including editorial and financial compliance requirements, with high standards of integrity and judgement and the confidence to challenge, escalate and speak up when processes, decisions or actions create risk or conflict with required standards.
  • Results-driven and accountable, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to independently identify issues, gather information from multiple sources, propose solutions, remove obstacles, track progress and take ownership for delivery outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams, handle difficult situations constructively, resolve conflicts and encourage collaboration to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and champion change and continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma (L6S) and PMP certification is desirable.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to technology and innovation, including willingness to adopt approved AI and automation tools, experiment with new ways of working and use technology responsibly to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality and consistency.
