- This role has general oversight over Patrol Sergeants and Patrol Officers
Work Setting/Schedule:
- On campus job
- The normal hours will be Monday through Friday, but this position is essential and working nights, weekends and holidays, at times may be needed.
- Full-time job, 52 weeks per year, 40 hours per week
What You Will Do:
- Serves as the supervisor-in-charge during the absence of the Associate Vice President & Chief of Public Safety. Assists with a wide variety of tasks such as directing Staff Sergeants, police and communications officers, and other personnel assigned to the department.
- Assists with event management. Manages the traffic and events casual staff and provides training for event staff. Creates operational plans and briefs staff for major events including commencement, alumni weekend, and move in day.
- Supervises and guides subordinates in performance of duties. Monitors operations personnel work activity and schedules staffing and overtime assignments in an efficient and fair manner. Prepares and reviews personnel evaluations and develops subordinates' job skills. Administers discipline and recognizes commendable employee actions.
- Conducts Internal Affairs investigations. Reviews and investigates incidents of use of force applications within the department and complies with all federal and state mandated reporting requirements. Works with the Chief on confidential employee matters.
- Participates in committees and boards as the public safety liaison. May perform the traditional uniform duties of a police officer when necessary.
- Analyzes and reports crime statistical data. Creates and implements crime reduction strategies and educational programs based on crime statistics.
- Conducts inspections of department property to ensure everything is in working order. Ensures vehicles, weapons, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained. Conducts fleet vehicle crash investigations when departmental vehicles are involved.

What You Will Bring
Required:
- Associate's Degree
- Eight (8) years of related work experience
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Possess and maintain ACT 120 standards in accordance with PA law . Out of State candidates must obtain PA ACT 120 certification prior to hire.
- Possess a valid Pennsylvania vehicle license or if an out of state applicant, transfer license to Pennsylvania by hire date.
Preferred, but not required:
- Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- Ten (10) years of related work experience
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience
Other Information about the position:
- Must be able to pass a background check for JNET clearance, physical exam and psychological test.
- This position, like all public safety positions, is subject to random drug testing.
- All Public Safety Personnel are also Campus Security Authorities as defined by the Clery Act.
- Must be able to maintain ACT 120 standards once hired (Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission certification).

- Able to walk, bike and drive
- Able to run, bend, lift, and climb

80,000.00-100,000.00The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

The Community
