Overview

To provide administration, maintenance, training, and support for design technology-related and other Bowman provided service software tools to ensure efficient and effective usage.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

• Perform work under limited supervision requiring the need to exercise independent judgement and discretion on a regular or frequent basis. Create and build upon relationships with other design technology staff, Helpdesk staff, and office leadership.

At the Operational and Company Level

• Work closely with IT staff members, engineers, surveyors, drafters, technicians, and project teams to ensure seamless integration and usage of design technology.

Do the Work

• Serve as a technical resource for Mechanical and Electrical BIM workflows, standards, and digital delivery initiatives.
• Lead development and implementation of MEP-specific Revit standards, content libraries, and automation tools that improve design quality, coordination, and production efficiency.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering leadership to identify opportunities for workflow automation, model intelligence, and data-driven project delivery.
• Mentor engineers and designers on advanced MEP modeling techniques, BIM best practices, and custom tool utilization.
• Serve as a discipline BIM leader for mechanical and Electrical projects, promoting company BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers in BIM processes, model development, and coordination procedures.
• Review mechanical BIM models for compliance with project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), company standards, and quality requirements.
• Participate in development and continuous improvement of BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
• Collaborate with BIM Managers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to establish project BIM goals and deliverables.
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings and facilitate resolution of interdisciplinary model conflicts.
• Support digital delivery initiatives and contribute to company-wide BIM and technology advancement efforts.
• Assist in the development of BIM execution plans, model management procedures, and client BIM requirements.
• Administer, configure, maintain, and support engineering software tools, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley Microstation, Revit, BIM360, and other industry-specific applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues, providing technical support to users.
• Coordinate and communicate training and upskilling needs with learning and development team.
• Perform software audits and quality control checks to identify areas of inefficiency, unused licenses, and potential cost and labor savings.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand their software requirements, customizing tools and configurations to meet their needs.
• Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure design technology adheres to cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
• Liaise with project managers and team leads as needed to ensure design technology meets project-specific requirements and deadlines.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and new features and functionality in design technology tools to maintain a competitive edge.
• Evaluate user feedback and satisfaction to continuously improve the design technology support and administration process.
• Proactively identify potential software conflicts or incompatibilities and provide recommendations for resolution.
• Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to improve software proficiency among users.
• Monitor software performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and process improvement.
• Evaluate and recommend new software tools and technologies to enhance design capabilities and streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in related field required.
• Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years’ relevant industry-related experience
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering software applications, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley Microstation, Revit, BIM360, Navisworks, and other industry-specific tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with employees of all levels both in person and electronically.
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

• Eligible for remote work arrangements.
• Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
• Mobility around an office environment.
• Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
• Occasional lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Occasional pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds.
• Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $97,000 - $123,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
