KieranTimberlake is seeking a Design Technology Specialist to join our Philadelphia studio. Our projects span civic, academic, cultural, and institutional work, and you’ll work alongside colleagues who engage deeply across all phases, from early design through construction administration, and who are invested equally in design and documentation.

Your Role
The Design Technology Specialist will be a member of KieranTimberlake’s Research Group and will work alongside peer-mentors in Design Computation, Technical Direction, and Visualization toward a blend of nimble design practices and efficient project delivery methods. They will be responsible for applying their understanding of modeling workflows and design documentation principles to support architectural project teams.
What you’ll do:
  • Advance office-wide BIM use and elevate BIM literacy
  • Collaborate with project teams on modeling best practices across all project phases
  • Develop digital tools and computational solutions for building projects
  • Evaluate emerging modeling, simulation, visualization, and AI workflows
  • Conduct BIM training for designers at all levels
  • Support project model setup, quality assurance, and phase closeouts
  • Steward BIM standards, execution plans, templates, and digital content libraries
  • Administer all model exchange platforms with external collaborators
  • Lead office-wide initiatives with Design Computation and Technical Direction
  • Engage in interdisciplinary brainstorming sessions across a wide range of topics, including building performance, environmental justice, human health, post-occupancy evaluation, and many others
Your Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, curious individual who wants to be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and can demonstrate:
  • A degree in architecture or other design-related field
  • At least 5 years of experience using BIM for design and construction
  • Expertise in Revit, Rhino, and visual scripting (Dynamo and/or Grasshopper via Rhino.Inside.Revit)
  • Experience administering cloud-hosted projects (Autodesk Forma formerly ACC)
  • Familiarity with visualization workflows across all phases of design (Revit, Rhino, Enscape)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to ask questions, draw out insight, and synthesize ideas
  • Eagerness to learn and share new methods and skills
We’ll give additional consideration to candidates with:
  • Proficiency in or desire to learn programming languages (C#, Python, and/or JavaScript) and application programming interfaces (Revit API and/or RhinoCommon)
  • Experience with or eagerness to explore applied AI workflows (LLM-assisted research and synthesis, generative image and video for design exploration, agent-driven modeling and quality assurance, and AI-assisted coding)
  • Working knowledge of content management and collaboration platforms (Kinship, SharePoint, Miro)
