Role Overview The Detailer Lead - Sheetmetal supports construction projects through the creation, coordination, and management of sheet metal shop drawings and BIM models, leading the sheet metal detailing team and constructability efforts on generally smaller and less complex projects. This role focuses on sheet metal-specific trade coordination and technical leadership, partnering closely with the design and modeling group and leading the final trade sign-off process for sheet metal scope. This is a remote role. This role may be filled at varying levels based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall qualifications. Final title, level, and compensation will be determined through the interview and assessment process and will be aligned with internal equity and external market benchmarks. Core Responsibilities Lead the sheet metal detailing team and constructability efforts on generally smaller and less complex projects Partner with the design and modeling group to incorporate sheet metal constructability knowledge in a timely manner to minimize model rework Lead communication among project team members on sheet metal coordination and scope; ensure concerns are addressed and resolved Provide material, content, and feedback to sheet metal detailers on the team Lead the final sheet metal trade coordination and sign-off process with the general contractor Contribute to the design pull schedule to direct model development for sheet metal scope of work Manage resources assigned to sheet metal detailing tasks Participate in conceptual design for sheet metal systems supporting modular construction and constructability standards Review and QA/QC sheet metal shop drawings and models prior to release Support budget planning and maintain cost accountability for sheet metal detailing work Required Background High School diploma or GED and minimum of 6 years of progressive sheet metal detailing experience, or completed sheet metal trade apprenticeship program and a minimum of 4 years of related field experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field preferred Field Foreman or General Foreman experience in the sheet metal trade preferred Proficient verbal and written communication skills Ability to write, edit, and proofread content Ability to read and interpret sheet metal construction documents and specifications Current, hands-on knowledge of sheet metal and duct trades and field installation methods Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring sheet metal detailers Strong attention to detail and quality control on sheet metal shop drawings Ability to coordinate projects Ability to multi-task and prioritize Ability to interpret the construction schedule to integrate a design pull schedule Working knowledge of applicable AEC, BIM, and CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD) Compensation & Perks Competitive salary based on experience 401(k) plan with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance Annual bonus program based on performance, achievement, and company profitability Term life, AD&D, and voluntary life insurance Disability income protection insurance Pre-tax flexible spending plans (health and dependent care) Paid parental leave Paid holidays, vacation, and personal time Training and professional development opportunities Company-paid memberships for professional associations and licenses Path for advancement into senior VDC and leadership roles
