Show job description

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with a strong operations background to join our infrastructure team and work closely with the application teams we support. You will help keep a large and varied application landscape running smoothly on AWS.

Your primary responsibilities include:

· Operational Support for Application and Infrastructure Teams: Be the go-to engineer for application and infrastructure teams when issues need deeper investigation. Take incidents and requests from first triage to root cause, fix what is in your scope, and explain what happened so teams can handle similar issues themselves next time.

· Linux Systems Administration: Administer Linux servers (mainly RHEL and SLES): services and systemd units, processes, users and permissions, filesystems and disk space, packages, cron jobs and kernel parameters. Use logs (journalctl, /var/log) and standard tools such as top, ss, lsof, df and strace to find out what is going on.

· Web and Application Servers: Troubleshoot Apache HTTP Server and Nginx, including virtual hosts, reverse proxy and rewrite rules, TLS certificates, and access and error logs. Support the application runtimes behind them (e.g. Java/Tomcat, Node.js, Python) when it comes to start-up failures, resource limits and connectivity to backends.

· AWS Cloud Operations: Operate and troubleshoot workloads across our multi-account AWS environment and the wide range of AWS services our applications rely on, such as EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, RDS, S3 and CloudFront. Check load balancer target health, listener rules, security groups and NACLs, and use CloudTrail and AWS Config to find what changed, when, and by whom.

· Networking and Connectivity: Diagnose DNS, routing, firewall and TLS issues across our AWS environment (VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateway, VPN), using tools such as dig, curl, traceroute, tcpdump and openssl.

· Monitoring, Logging and Alerting: Respond to alerts and keep Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and CloudWatch useful: tune noisy alerts, and add checks and dashboards where an incident shows a gap in visibility.

· Containers and Kubernetes: Support workloads running on Docker and Amazon EKS: check pod status, events and logs, and troubleshoot failed deployments, resource limits, image pulls and ingress issues.

· Automation and Scripting: Automate repetitive checks and fixes with Bash, Python and Ansible. Contribute to Terraform code and GitLab CI/CD pipelines, following team standards.

· Incident and Problem Management: Handle incidents, requests and changes through ServiceNow, take part in the on-call rotation, write short post-incident notes, and escalate to senior engineers or vendors when an issue goes beyond your scope.

· Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Write runbooks and troubleshooting guides for common issues, so they get solved faster, and more often by the application teams themselves.

Required skills and experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

· 2–4 years of experience in systems administration, cloud operations, or DevOps roles

· Solid hands-on Linux administration experience (RHEL or SLES preferred) and confidence working on the command line

· Practical experience troubleshooting Apache and/or Nginx: configuration, TLS and logs

· Hands-on experience operating AWS, in particular EC2, load balancers, VPC networking, IAM, CloudWatch and CloudTrail

· Good understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing and firewalls

· Scripting in Bash and Python

· Working knowledge of Ansible, Terraform and Git/GitLab

· Docker and Kubernetes fundamentals

· Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or CloudWatch

· A structured approach to troubleshooting: forming a hypothesis, testing it, and narrowing down the cause instead of guessing

· Ability to explain technical issues clearly to people who are not infrastructure specialists, and the patience to walk them through it

· Comfortable working with tickets, change management and incident processes.

Nice to have:

· Windows Server administration basics on EC2 (IIS, Active Directory)

· Familiarity with ServiceNow

· Security basics: IAM least privilege, secrets handling, OS hardening and vulnerability remediation

· AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, RHCSA or a similar certification.

What we offer:

  • Hybrid Working Model: A flexible schedule with 3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home.
  • Competitive Salary Package: An attractive and negotiable salary, tailored to your experience, technical knowledge, and skill set, to be discussed during the interview process.
  • Private Health Insurance: Access to a private healthcare subscription for your peace of mind and well-being.
  • Professional & People-Centric Environment: A professional workplace that values collaboration, open communication, teamwork, and a friendly, supportive company culture.
  • Career Growth Opportunities: A great stepping stone for new career opportunities, offering room for professional development, continuous learning, and long-term career progression.
