About Us:
Founded in 2018, Indie Consulting is a fast-growing, strategy-led marketing consultancy that partners with some of the most exciting brands in CPG and beyond! We foster an empowering environment built on creativity and dedication, helping our clients tell their stories with clarity and impact.
At Indie, we’ve created a collaborative culture where professional and personal growth is the norm. Our team leads with empathy, supports one another, and strives to deliver meaningful results that leave things better than we found them. If you’re energized by smart strategy, great people, and real opportunities for growth, we’d love to meet you!
Role Overview:
At Indie Consulting, the Digital Marketing Strategist plays a dual role: a strategic thinker and a day-to-day account driver. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, building strong relationships, earning their confidence, and owning workstreams that bring brand and business strategies to life across paid, owned, and earned channels. This role blends creativity, analytical thinking, and strong project management to deliver marketing strategies that are as actionable as they are insightful.
In this role, you’ll regularly lead client calls, manage multiple workstreams at once, and help define the path forward when a brief is still taking shape. Our team moves quickly, and those who excel here anticipate what’s needed next and take ownership of moving it forward. This role is well suited to someone who can see the big picture while managing the details that keep a client engagement running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Strategic Workstreams
- Own smaller strategy projects or lead specific workstreams within broader engagements, from campaign planning to content strategy to performance reporting
- Connect business goals to marketing strategies by identifying key audiences, messaging priorities, and performance metrics
- Develop briefs that clarify strategic direction and drive cross-functional alignment across creative, media, and digital teams
- Drive Day-to-Day Client Success
- Act as the connective tissue across stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and momentum across multiple workstreams
- Proactively manage timelines, deliverables, and expectations, keeping a pulse on scope, capacity, and cross-functional progress
- Navigate shifting priorities and provide clear, confident guidance to move work forward in fluid or ambiguous moments
- Build Trust and Strengthen Relationships
- Foster productive relationships with client partners by actively listening, anticipating needs, and consistently delivering on promises
- Communicate with clarity and purpose across all formats: email, decks, meetings, and working sessions
- Present strategic recommendations with confidence and clarity, tailoring your approach to different levels of stakeholders
- Extract Insights & Make Them Actionable
- Synthesize diverse data points (consumer insights, media performance, competitive research) into focused strategic recommendations
- Define KPIs and performance measures across workstreams and ensure results are used to inform ongoing decisions
- Lead reporting conversations, helping clients understand what’s working, what’s not, and where to go next
- Operate with Initiative & Accountability
- Flag risks early, propose thoughtful solutions, and take ownership for seeing work through to completion
- Bring a resourceful, solution-first mindset to every challenge, from client feedback to internal bottlenecks
- Stay organized and responsive in a dynamic environment, balancing priorities with professionalism and poise
- 2-4 years of experience in marketing strategy, brand management, or digital marketing, ideally in an agency or client-facing environment
- Experience developing strategic marketing plans, content briefs, and measurement frameworks
- Comfortable leading workstreams with limited oversight and collaborating with creative, media, and data teams
- Strong project management instincts and attention to detail; able to track tasks while keeping sight of the strategic goal
- Confident communication skills (verbal, visual, and written) with experience presenting ideas and earning buy-in
- Familiarity with omnichannel marketing tactics, including paid social, CRM, search, digital media, and web strategy
- High comfort navigating ambiguity, balancing multiple priorities, and working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
- Proficient in Google Workspace (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Suite and other collaborative tools
Reporting Relationship: Associate Director of Strategy
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Location: This role is based in Raleigh, NC or New York, NY with a hybrid schedule of three in-office days (T-TH) and two remote days (M/F) each week.
