Company Overview
Rex is a privately held ecosystem of entrepreneurial ventures led by Peter Rex, spanning real estate private equity, technology, insurance, and AI. We build businesses and investment platforms that generate both exceptional financial returns and meaningful societal impact. At the core of our strategy is investor engagement: attracting aligned capital partners who share our long-term vision. We are building the most compelling investor-facing ecosystem in the private markets. The role offers exposure to a uniquely diverse platform, combining institutional-quality real estate and high-growth tech ventures, all aligned under a singular mission-driven vision.
About Us
Our mission is to catalyze human flourishing through stewardship, serving people in all nations. We seek a transcendent impact, second to none, crossing geographies and making a permanent mark on history.
We aim to uplift investors, foster flourishing families, create enduring trust, and contribute to a more beautiful world through our investments, products and services, and new ventures.
Our investments are primarily in real estate, with additional allocations to tech, energy, and alternatives, employing a downside-protected, long-term approach to investing. We are grounded in timeless morals and seek to preserve and grow both investor capital and our own.
We serve a diverse ecosystem that includes:
- Multifamily apartment management with 20,000+ apartments
- Hotel and office buildings
- Tech ventures
- Insurance companies
Our businesses, with over 500 employees, are primarily throughout Texas and Florida, but we aim to expand globally with our products and services, impacting people in all countries.
Mindset
- Fanatical Investor Focus: Serve our investors by preserving their wealth first and foremost and secondarily seeking to maximize their return on equity while fostering human progress through stewardship of the assets and companies.
- Ecosystem Alignment: Execute in a spirit of partnership across all components of the Rex ecosystem, including multifamily and other real estate assets as well as tech companies.
- Missionary Zeal: Care about investor stewardship and advancing the vision of catalyzing human flourishing.
The Opportunity
Rex is hiring a Director of Acquisitions & Transactions to quarterback every multifamily deal across its private equity real estate platform. With more than half a billion dollars in real estate owned and a new cycle underway, Rex is buying aggressively again. This leader sits at the center of the action and owns outcomes from the first broker call through closing, ownership, and exit. This role is anchored by three core mandates. First, run every transaction from start to finish. Drive sourcing and broker relationships with rigor and doggedness, negotiate LOIs and purchase contracts, command due diligence, and close cleanly. Second, orchestrate the full deal stack. Line up debt and equity before an LOI is signed, and control critical dates to protect deposits and buy time without breaking the deal. Own contracts alongside counsel, and drive refinances and dispositions. Ensure a disciplined handoff to asset and property management, then track execution through the business plan. Third, build the playbook and the bench. Architect a repeatable Rex deal system spanning diligence checklists, critical dates calendars, closing protocols, structured handoffs, and post-mortems. Develop rising deal professionals into operators capable of running full transactions themselves. The ideal candidate has 8–12 years in multifamily private equity real estate across acquisitions, transactions, or investment operations. They have personally quarterbacked 20+ closings, including deals that went sideways and were saved. They bring strong underwriting, debt market fluency, and established relationships with investment sales and debt brokers. They pair IQ with EQ. They are detail-obsessed on contracts and numbers, yet street smart, likable, and shrewd with counterparties whose interests rarely align with Rex’s. They know enough about legal, debt, construction, and operations to challenge any advisor or counterparty with credibility. A legal or real estate paralegal background is a plus. This seat is built for a driver, not a process manager. Must be unquestionably loyal and deeply aligned with Rex’s mission to catalyze human flourishing through disciplined stewardship of real estate. Not for mercenaries. Only for missionaries. Fully remote.
About the Role
Rex is hiring a Director of Acquisitions & Transactions to translate a capitalized, actively buying platform into a steady cadence of well-sourced, well-structured, and cleanly closed multifamily transactions. With a new acquisition cycle underway, this seat owns the full deal lifecycle, from first broker call through closing, ownership, refinance, and exit.
This role owns outcomes across sourcing, structuring, contracts, diligence, closing, and handoff, ensuring speed, discipline, and conviction at every stage. You will operate as the connective tissue between brokers, sellers, lenders, equity partners, and counsel on one side, and Rex’s acquisitions, capital formation, asset management, and property management teams on the other, keeping every party aligned and every critical date protected.
You will line up debt and equity before an LOI is signed, negotiate contracts with precision, and control the timeline so Rex protects its deposits and buys time when it needs it, without breaking the deal. When a transaction goes sideways, you will be the one who diagnoses the problem, rallies the parties, and finds a path to close. After closing, you will drive a structured handoff into asset and property management, track execution against the business plan, and lead refinances and dispositions when the timing is right.
You will also build the machine. That means architecting a repeatable Rex deal system, including diligence checklists, critical dates calendars, closing protocols, structured handoffs, and post-mortems, and developing rising deal professionals into operators who can run full transactions on their own.
This is a hands-on, high-impact seat for a driver, not a process manager, advisor, or banker. It calls for someone who pairs IQ with EQ: detail-obsessed on contracts and numbers, street smart with counterparties, and credible enough on legal, debt, construction, and operations to challenge anyone in the room. Must be missionary to the bone.
Key Responsibilities
- Quarterback every multifamily transaction from first broker call through LOI, purchase contract, due diligence, and closing
- Source opportunities with rigor and doggedness through investment sales broker relationships, direct owner outreach, and proprietary channels
- Underwrite and pressure-test deals, forming clear investment theses and decisive go or no-go recommendations
- Negotiate LOIs and purchase and sale agreements, owning contract terms alongside outside counsel
- Line up debt and equity ahead of LOI execution, coordinating with debt brokers, lenders, and Rex’s capital formation team so every deal is capitalized before commitments are made
- Own the critical dates calendar on every deal, controlling deadlines, extensions, and contingencies to protect earnest money and buy time without breaking the deal
- Command due diligence across physical, financial, legal, environmental, and title workstreams, managing third-party reports, data rooms, and estoppels
- Coordinate lenders, counsel, title, insurance, and internal stakeholders to close cleanly and on schedule
- Rescue deals that go sideways by diagnosing issues early, renegotiating terms, and finding creative paths to close
- Drive refinances and dispositions, from timing and broker or lender selection through execution
- Lead a disciplined handoff from acquisitions to asset and property management, then track execution against the business plan and original underwriting
- Architect and maintain the Rex deal system, including diligence checklists, critical dates calendars, closing protocols, handoff standards, and post-mortems after every transaction
- Develop and coach rising deal professionals into operators capable of running full transactions independently
- Track pipeline activity, deal status, and conversion metrics with disciplined reporting to leadership
- Leverage AI tools and technology to accelerate underwriting, diligence review, contract abstraction, and deal tracking
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 8–12 years of experience in multifamily private equity real estate across acquisitions, transactions, or investment operations
- Has personally quarterbacked 20+ multifamily closings, including deals that went sideways and were saved
- Strong underwriting capabilities with advanced Excel proficiency, including building and auditing acquisition models
- Debt market fluency across agency, bridge, and bank financing, with experience lining up capital on tight timelines
- Established relationships with investment sales brokers and debt brokers
- Deep command of LOIs, purchase and sale agreements, critical dates, deposits, contingencies, and closing mechanics
- Working knowledge of legal, debt, construction, and property operations sufficient to challenge advisors and counterparties with credibility
- Experience managing refinances and dispositions in addition to acquisitions
- Track record of building repeatable deal processes, checklists, and closing protocols
- Experience developing and coaching junior acquisitions or transactions professionals
- Familiarity with tools such as Argus, CoStar, Yardi, RealPage, DocuSign, and CRM systems for pipeline tracking
- AI-fluent, with a practical ability to use tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to increase speed and accuracy across the deal process
- Pairs IQ with EQ: detail-obsessed on contracts and numbers, yet street smart, likable, and shrewd with counterparties whose interests rarely align with Rex’s
- Legal or real estate paralegal background is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, business, or a related field preferred
- A hands-on driver with a bias toward action, full ownership, and accountability for closed deal outcomes
- Unquestionably loyal and deeply aligned with Rex’s mission to catalyze human flourishing through disciplined stewardship of real estate
