About CookUnity:
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, it has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 50 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
The Role:
As a Director, Advanced Analytics, you will lead CookUnity’s Advanced Analytics function, helping the business understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better decisions across product performance, retention, and growth.
You will partner closely with Product, Finance, Operations and senior leadership to turn complex business questions into rigorous analyses and actionable recommendations. Your work will help explain what is driving performance, measure the impact of initiatives, and guide product priorities and business investments.
This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role. You will tackle complex analytical problems while developing the team, providing technical direction, and raising the quality and impact of its work. You will also help shape the team’s structure, priorities, and ways of working as the business evolves.
Your focus will be advanced analytics, experimentation, and measurement, working in partnership with the separate Data Science/ML and Engineering teams responsible for deploying models into products and systems.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction & Business Partnership
- Set the direction for Advanced Analytics. Build a proactive analytical agenda aligned with CookUnity’s priorities. Establish clear ownership, prioritize high-impact questions, and balance immediate business needs with longer-term capability building.
- Turn insights into business impact. Bring an independent analytical perspective to leadership discussions, communicate recommendations clearly, and evaluate how the resulting decisions affect business outcomes. Be the person driving key business and product decisions based on advanced analytics insights.
Advanced Analytics & Experimentation
- Measure the impact of product, operational, and pricing decisions. Use experimentation and causal inference to determine how changes to the customer experience, operational processes, pricing, and loyalty programs affect conversion, ordering, retention, and profitability. Apply quasi-experimental methods when randomized tests aren’t feasible, and clearly communicate assumptions and uncertainty.
- Lead growth experimentation. Partner with Growth and Product to design, prioritize and evaluate tests across acquisition, activation, offers and lifecycle engagement. Connect short-term conversion gains to longer-term retention and customer value.
- Lead hands-on analytical work. Dive into complex problems, challenge assumptions, and guide methodological choices. Provide technical direction from problem framing through analysis, interpretation, and communication.
Business Performance & Product Impact
- Explain churn and retention drivers. Investigate how customer mix, pricing, promotions, meal quality, menu availability and the delivery experience influence weekly ordering, skips, pauses and cancellations. Turn those findings into prioritized opportunities to improve retention and lifetime value, and drive better business strategy and product feature outcomes.
- Influence product priorities. Translate customer behavior and product performance insights into recommendations that inform roadmaps, investment decisions, and opportunities to improve the customer experience. Be core partner to Head of Product to drive product priorities.
- Strengthen marketing measurement. Bring a practical understanding of marketing mix modeling (MMM), multi-touch attribution (MTA) and incrementality testing. Help Marketing interpret conflicting signals and make better decisions about channel mix, budgets and customer acquisition.
Team Leadership & Development
- Develop and strengthen the team. Coach Data Analysts, provide actionable feedback, and set clear expectations for analytical rigor, business understanding, and delivery quality. Identify capability gaps and elevate team performance.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in advanced analytics and advanced statistical analysis, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Strong applied experience in product and growth experimentation, causal inference and customer retention analysis, alongside a practical understanding of marketing measurement approaches such as MMM, MTA and incrementality testing.
- Strong hands-on analytical capabilities, with experience independently investigating complex business problems and guiding others through them.
- Proven experience partnering with Product teams and translating analytical insights into product decisions and measurable business outcomes.
- People leadership experience, including developing talent, providing technical guidance, and improving team performance.
- Strong strategic judgment and business understanding, with the ability to identify the right questions and prioritize work based on potential impact.
- Ability to communicate complex findings, methodological limitations, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.
- A player-coach approach that combines technical depth, strategic thinking, and people leadership.
- High autonomy, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to solving problems in an evolving environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in consumer-facing businesses, ideally with exposure to retention and growth analytics.
- Experience scaling Analytics teams and strengthening their capabilities, structure, or ways of working.
If you are passionate about combining analytical rigor with business impact and developing a team that helps shape better decisions, we’d love to hear from you!
