We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.
The Finance team within the Internal Audit Group (IAG) provides independent, risk-based assurance across Controllership, Tax, SEC and U.S. Regulatory Reporting, financial close and consolidation, and general ledger processes. We are seeking an experienced Audit Director and U.S. Regulatory Reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead complex audits and strengthen IAG’s coverage of regulatory reporting risks, governance, data, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as IAG Finance’s SME for U.S. regulatory reporting, providing technical expertise, strategic direction, and independent challenge across the audit portfolio.
Lead complex, risk-based and integrated audits covering financial, operational, compliance, data, and technology risks.
Assess the effectiveness of end-to-end regulatory reporting processes, controls, and governance, including regulatory interpretation, data sourcing and transformation, report preparation, reconciliations, adjustments, review, and submission activities.
Evaluate processes supporting key regulatory reports, including FR Y-9C, FR Y-15, Call Report/FFIEC reports, FR Y-11, FR 2314, and other applicable regulatory submissions.
Assess critical data elements, data lineage, data quality, source-to-report traceability, and related technology and data controls.
Provide regulatory reporting expertise across the audit lifecycle, including risk assessments, audit planning, business monitoring, audit execution, issue identification, and communication of audit results and remediation strategies to senior management.
Partner across Finance, Risk, Technology, Data, Compliance, and IAG to enhance audit coverage and leverage data analytics.
Coach and develop colleagues and manage audit and co-sourced resources across global teams.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of relevant experience in U.S. regulatory reporting, regulatory reporting audit, regulatory examination, or related risk and control roles within the banking and capital markets sector of the financial services industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Deep knowledge of U.S. regulatory reporting requirements, including hands-on experience preparing, reviewing, overseeing, auditing, or examining reports such as FR Y-9C, FR Y-15, Call Report/ FFIEC reports, FR Y-11, and FR 2314, and other key regulatory reports.
Strong experience assessing end-to-end reporting processes, regulatory reporting controls, critical data elements, data lineage, data quality, and source-to-report flows.
Experience assessing the implementation of new or revised regulatory reporting requirements, including interpretation of reporting instructions and related control impacts.
Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, and professional auditing practices across the audit lifecycle.
Demonstrated ability to provide credible challenge, exercise sound judgment, and communicate complex regulatory and control matters to senior stakeholders.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to influence senior management and lead multiple complex priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent.
Regulatory reporting experience within a large, complex U.S. banking organization or similarly regulated financial institution.
Experience with regulatory examinations and regulatory remediation programs.
Experience assessing technology and automated controls supporting regulatory reporting.
Proficiency with data analytics, visualization, KRIs/KPIs, dashboards, and technology-enabled auditing techniques.
