About Blackbird Health
Blackbird Health is clinician-founded, owned, and operated by dedicated professionals. We believe that providing the best care for children starts with building the best possible team. We deliver virtual and in-person mental health services across Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey & Maryland—and we’re growing into new markets in 2027.
At Blackbird, we take a whole-child approach, looking at how the brain, body, and behavior interact to address the root causes of challenges, not just the symptoms. Every role matters here, and you’ll join a collaborative, supportive, and innovative team that’s shaping the future of pediatric mental health care. If you’re passionate about helping children and families while growing your career, Blackbird is the place to make an impact.
Join us and help change mental health care for children for the better!
Position Summary
As our Director of Behavioral Health, you will step into a pivotal leadership role designed to elevate the standard of care across our pediatric and adolescent behavioral health network. Reporting to Clinical Leadership, you will own the administrative and clinical oversight of our expanding therapy teams, bridging the gap between high-level operational strategy and everyday clinical excellence. In this 100% remote role, you will lead regional clinical managers and therapists across our active markets. You'll build scalable clinical protocols, optimize provider caseloads, and foster an environment where clinicians thrive. This role requires an active Pennsylvania LCSW and the ability to provide clinical supervision. If you're passionate about integrated care, outcome-driven therapy, and coaching clinical teams to perform at their best, you'll find a natural home here.
What Makes You, You
- Proven Executive & Clinical Leader: You bring 5+ years of progressive clinical leadership experience (Manager, Associate Director, or Director level) within a behavioral health setting.
- Manager of Managers: You have direct experience supervising, coaching, and developing clinical site managers and supervisors, not just direct-care clinicians.
- Integrated Care Champion: You have a deep commitment to multi-disciplinary care, evidence-based pediatric and adolescent interventions, and outcome-driven therapeutic practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaborator: You excel at partnering across Clinical Operations, Talent Acquisition, IT, and Quality to drive therapist hiring, smooth onboarding, and long-term retention.
- Data-Driven Operations Leader: You comfortably use outcome measures, productivity benchmarks, and scheduling metrics to support clinicians and optimize patient access.
- Compliance & Quality Specialist: You maintain a strong understanding of state behavioral health regulatory requirements, clinical protocols, and quality improvement frameworks.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead & Support Remote Clinical Teams: You will manage regional clinical managers and a multi-state team of W2 and 1099 psychotherapists (LPC, LCSW, LMFTs), providing regular 1:1 performance coaching, group supervision, and clinical mentoring.
- Drive Integrated & Outcome-Based Care: You will collaborate across Medical Services and Clinical Leadership to establish evidence-based treatment protocols, standardize clinical documentation, and measure changes in client quality of life resulting from care.
- Optimize Access & Retention: You will partner closely with Clinical Managers and Talent Acquisition to support therapist recruitment, streamline onboarding, and optimize schedule capacity so clinicians meet caseload goals without burnout.
- Maintain Quality & Regulatory Standards: You will oversee continuous quality improvement initiatives, ensuring all clinical workflows and regional delivery models comply with state regulations across our active markets.
The Basics You’ll Need
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
- Active, unrestricted clinical license to practice psychotherapy in PA as an LCSW
- 5+ years of clinical operations leadership experience in a behavioral health setting, with proven depth as a Manager, Associate Director, or Director.
- Experience managing managers: Proven track record of leading, coaching, and evaluating clinical site managers/supervisors.
- Direct clinical background with a dedicated focus on pediatric, adolescent, and family mental health.
- Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and retain multi-site or remote therapist teams in a growing environment.
Nice to Have
- Dual licensure across multiple Blackbird active markets (PA, VA, NJ, MD).
- Experience leading hybrid operations (balancing remote telehealth and on-the-ground clinic sites).
- Background in developing formal clinical onboarding frameworks and continuing education tracks.
Benefits
- Comprehensive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
- Career growth opportunities within a scaling healthcare organization
- Supportive, clinician-first work culture and diverse leadership team
