The Director of Communications, Marketing and Client Engagement is a visionary leader who drives innovative marketing strategies, amplifies brand presence, spearheads employee engagement and effectively communicates the organization’s mission to various stakeholders. This role is responsible for providing strategic oversight of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies. This includes managing communications, public relations, media relations, creative content, and other marketing tactics. Additionally, the role ensures the operations and professional standards of the entire Client Development Department are upheld.
How You Will Impact the Firm
- Develop and execute integrated marketing and communications plans that align with the firm's business goals, fortify its reputation, and cultivate engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Develop and lead brand strategy that’s implemented across all marketing channels and platforms.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to assess media interaction and proactively pursue public relations activities consistent with global strategy and business goals.
- Lead a team of professionals in executing projects and activities including client presentations, events, pitches and proposals, sponsorships, marketing, visual communications, public relations, and operations.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Advise lawyers on communications and marketing best practices.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the firm.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand business processes, key drivers and success measures.
- Advocate for technology needs.
Required Skills
Who You Are
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Agile leadership experience working in a matrixed environment and with experience in running a marketing function including shared services that support global marketing efforts.
- Exceptional relationship-building, business development, and management skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interface with senior leadership across the organization.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work with and manage others in a team setting.
- Excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and to address multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
- Remains open to technological change as generative AI becomes more integrated into the firm’s practice, actively develop comfort with new tools, and adapt how work is performed to support efficiency and innovation.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- A graduate degree or JD is strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 15+ years experience in a law firm or professional services environment is preferred.

The hiring range for this position is $254,000 – $317,500 annually, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications and internal equity.
