Director of Content & Editorial

Location: New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA

Reports to: Co-Founder & CEO

About Cherub

Cherub is a social-first fundraising network connecting founders, investors, and creators. We’re building the infrastructure for a new generation of ownership—helping founders build strategic cap tables and giving creators and emerging investors greater access to private-company investing, advising, and equity opportunities.

We sit at the intersection of startups, venture, culture, and the creator economy. Content is a critical part of how we build that category.

We’re looking for a Head of Content & Editorial to define what Cherub sounds like, what we talk about, and how we become a must-follow voice around founders, investing, creators, and ownership.

This is not simply a social media role. You’ll own Cherub’s overarching editorial strategy across our newsletters, blog, website, social channels, educational programming, events, and original franchises like Wing Woman.

You will also directly manage our Content Manager, who leads much of the day-to-day social publishing and execution.

The Role

You’ll build and lead Cherub’s editorial engine.

You’ll identify the stories, conversations, people, and cultural moments Cherub should own and turn them into compelling editorial franchises that ultimately drive awareness, engagement, and traffic back to the Cherub platform.

You should be equally comfortable developing a big-picture editorial strategy, reviewing a social calendar, sharpening homepage copy, creating a newsletter franchise, programming a masterclass, or turning an incredible event conversation into an evergreen article for the site.

What You’ll Own

Editorial Strategy

• Develop and own Cherub’s overarching content and editorial strategy.

• Define our editorial pillars, franchises, voice, cadence, and point of view.

• Build an integrated editorial calendar across newsletter, blog, social, web, events, masterclasses, and original programming.

• Identify the conversations Cherub should lead around entrepreneurship, fundraising, angel investing, creator equity, wealth, and ownership.

• Create repeatable editorial franchises that build audience and drive traffic to Cherub.

• Develop a system for turning Cherub’s community, deals, events, educational programming, and platform activity into compelling ongoing content.

• Ensure our content ecosystem works together rather than operating as disconnected channels.

Team + Social Oversight

• Set the overarching content strategy and editorial priorities alongside our Content Manager.

• Review content, copy, creative direction, and key posts before publishing.

• Work closely with the Content Manager to identify timely stories, trends, founders, investors, creators, and cultural moments.

• Provide feedback and editorial direction while empowering the Content Manager to own execution.

• Ensure social content ladders up to Cherub’s broader editorial strategy and drives audiences into our newsletters, site, events, and platform.

• Establish performance goals and use analytics to determine which editorial concepts should be expanded into larger franchises.

Wing Woman

Own the editorial strategy for Wing Woman, Cherub’s original interview franchise.

• Develop the editorial vision, format, guest strategy, and storylines for the series.

• Research guests and develop interview questions.

• Oversee scripts, talking points, and editorial direction.

• Partner with the Content Manager on the social rollout for each episode.

• Review and approve social calendars, edits, captions, hooks, clips, and supporting content.

• Build a distribution strategy that extends each conversation across social, newsletter, and the Cherub site.

• Turn interviews into evergreen editorial content, including articles, founder insights, investing lessons, and educational content.

• Develop opportunities for special editions, live versions, event integrations, and brand partnerships.

• Grow Wing Woman into a recognizable Cherub media property.

Newsletter

Build and own three core Cherub editorial newsletter franchises, each designed to create habitual readership and drive meaningful traffic back to the Cherub platform.

• Define the positioning, audience, editorial structure, and cadence for each newsletter.

• Build recurring sections and editorial franchises within each newsletter.

• Write, edit, and oversee newsletter production.

• Surface founders, creators, investors, deals, platform activity, industry trends, educational content, and original Cherub insights.

• Build strong calls to action that move readers from inbox to site.

• Develop a distinct editorial voice people genuinely want in their inbox.

• Test subject lines, formats, frequency, content, and CTAs based on performance.

• Track traffic, click-through, subscriber growth, and conversion.

• Use newsletter performance to inform the broader Cherub editorial strategy.

Blog + Site Editorial

Build and run Cherub’s blog and on-site editorial strategy.

A major priority of this role will be turning the significant amount of content Cherub already creates into evergreen editorial assets.

• Build the editorial calendar for the Cherub blog.

• Turn Wing Woman interviews into articles, guides, quotes, founder lessons, and investment insights.

• Turn masterclasses into educational articles and evergreen resources.

• Turn event conversations, panels, deal stories, FAQs, community conversations, and social content into long-form editorial.

• Develop SEO-friendly content around fundraising, angel investing, creator equity, SAFEs, cap tables, SPVs, and other areas central to Cherub.

• Create an organized content library that increases the lifetime value of everything Cherub produces.

• Develop clear pathways from editorial content into relevant areas of the Cherub platform.

Masterclasses + Educational Content

Own the editorial development and programming strategy for Cherub’s educational franchises, including:

• Fundraising Masterclass

• Creator Angel Masterclass

This includes:

• Developing curriculum, topics, formats, and programming calendars.

• Identifying speakers, experts, founders, creators, and investors who can contribute.

• Creating supporting editorial materials, guides, resources, and follow-up content.

• Working with the broader team on production and promotion.

• Turning each masterclass into a larger content ecosystem across blog, newsletter, social, video, and the Cherub platform.

• Identifying additional educational franchises Cherub can own as the company grows.

Website + Brand Copy

Own Cherub’s editorial voice across the product and website.

• Write and edit homepage, landing page, campaign, product, and marketing copy.

• Partner with product and growth teams on messaging for new features.

• Maintain consistency in Cherub’s tone, positioning, and terminology.

• Translate complicated concepts—SAFEs, cap tables, SPVs, creator equity, and angel investing—into language people actually understand.

• Develop messaging frameworks and editorial guidelines the broader team can use.

• Be the final editorial eye on major outward-facing communications.

This role is right for you if:

You’re deeply curious about startups, business, culture, creators, money, and the people changing how those worlds work.

You probably have experience across some combination of editorial, digital media, brand content, newsletters, social, podcasts/video, or startup communications.

You have:

• Exceptional writing and editing instincts.

• A strong sense of voice and taste.

• Experience managing content or editorial team members.

• Experience building editorial calendars and repeatable content franchises.

• Experience owning or significantly contributing to newsletters.

• Strong interviewing and research skills.

• An understanding of how content travels across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, email, and web.

• An understanding of SEO and evergreen editorial strategy.

• The ability to make complicated business and financial topics accessible and interesting.

• Strong instincts around talent, cultural relevance, and what makes someone worth paying attention to.

• Enough comfort with analytics to understand what is working and adjust accordingly.

• The ability to think strategically while still being willing to get into the copy and make it better.

• The ability to move quickly without lowering the quality bar.

How We Work

We move before we're told to. High agency isn't a perk here, it's the job. We own outcomes, not tasks, and we'd rather you try something and course-correct than wait around for a green light.

We're craftspeople. We ship fast and sometimes it's imperfect, but at the end of a hard sprint you should be able to point at what you made and mean it. Generic isn't good enough here.

We stay curious. Everything is moving fast: platforms, markets, AI. The best people here are students of their craft whether or not anyone asked them to be.

We operate with integrity. No politics, no ego, no blame. We're honest with each other and with the people trusting us with real money and real connections.

We earn the trust we're given. This company is small, the mission is big, and every person here carries real weight. We don't micro manage you. We trust you. Don't make us regret it.
