About this Opportunity:

As a Director, Creative Services, you will be responsible for leading Orion’s creative vision and execution across marketing campaigns, product launches, digital channels, events, and sales enablement initiatives. This role oversees brand identity, visual design, content development, and multimedia production to ensure consistent, compelling messaging aligned with business objectives. The Director, Creative Services partners with cross-functional teams to translate strategic priorities into impactful creative solutions, drives operational efficiencies, and leads and develops a high-performing creative team while maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and brand consistency. As we continue to evolve and live our Orion values, we are looking for someone to grow with us.

It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work as a Hybrid employee, with three (3) or more days each week required on-site at one of the listed office locations.

Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to an office. Internal candidates currently aligned to an Orion office location may be given preference; however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Creative Direction
    • Lead creative direction for Orion’s campaigns, product launches, digital channels, and sales enablement, as well as events such as Ascent, Orion’s flagship industry conference.
    • Develop big ideas and creative concepts that translate strategic priorities into work that resonates with advisors, firms, and partners.
    • Guide both visual and written execution, ensuring design, messaging, and copy work together to tell a clear, compelling story.
    • Serve as the final creative review, ensuring work is on-brand, audience-appropriate, and aligned to the priorities of Revenue Marketing, Product Marketing, Corporate Communications, and other stakeholders.
  • Brand & Content
    • Own and evolve Orion’s visual identity, and bring the brand voice to life in partnership with the AVP, Marketing Operations and Content, who sets brand and editorial strategy.
    • Partner with the content strategy team to give flagship content programs a distinctive creative expression that can be repurposed across top-of-funnel channels.
    • Elevate the craft of Orion’s written content — campaign copy, thought leadership, web, and social — so it is as strong as the design that carries it.
    • Maintain brand standards, assets, and templates that enable internal teams and partners to produce on-brand work independently.
  • Production & Multimedia
    • Direct photo and video shoots from concept through execution, bringing a high bar for quality and innovation.
    • Oversee motion, video, and multimedia production using in-house, freelance, and tool-based resources.
    • Embed AI tools into creative production to increase speed, consistency, and output quality.
  • Creative Operations
    • Establish clear creative workflows, intake, and turnaround expectations that enable the team to deliver on time and at scale.
    • Use Asana to give stakeholders visibility into work in flight, priorities, and capacity.
    • Measure creative effectiveness through brand campaign performance and delivery metrics, using insights to continuously improve the work.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team of in-house design and content team members alongside offshore and freelance creative partners.
    • Set clear goals, priorities, and quality standards, empowering the team to make creative decisions and move work forward with confidence.
    • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous learning, investing in each team member’s growth.
    • Model Orion’s values and lead with integrity, inclusion, and transparency.
    • Manages team members within department including but not limited to hiring, training and developing employees, delegating work assignments, writing and conducting performance appraisals, salary recommendations, coaching and counseling, and administering corrective actions.

We're looking for talent who has:

  • Creative Leadership
    • A compelling portfolio that demonstrates creative direction across both design and copy, spanning brand, campaign, and digital work.
    • Strong conceptual thinker who can turn strategy into ideas that inspire teams and audiences.
    • Proven ability to build, protect, and evolve a brand identity across a complex organization.
  • Content & Channel Expertise
    • Strong editorial instincts, with the ability to give meaningful direction to writers as well as designers.
    • Deep understanding of channel best practices across web, social, video, and events, balancing creative ambition with business goals.
    • Experience leading photo, video, and multimedia production.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Experience leading onshore and offshore creative teams to high standards of quality and timeliness.
    • Exceptional presenter who can articulate creative rationale and build excitement for recommendations.
    • Strong cross-functional partner who thrives in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Tools & Technology
    • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite and current design tools.
    • Practical experience applying AI tools to creative and content production.
