Overall Function

Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Systems, the Director, Data & Integration Services will serve as both a strategic advisor and technology leader, partnering with IT and business executives across Finance, Marketing, Fundraising, CRM, Human Resources, and other functions. The role will define the vision and roadmap for enterprise data, integration, analytics, and emerging data capabilities while providing hands-on technical leadership and support when needed.

EDF’s data ecosystem is centered on Snowflake and extends and supports services across many of EDF’s enterprise applications, including Salesforce, NetSuite ERP & EPM, Workday, and a portfolio of MarTech applications. It is evolving toward a modern, cloud-native, hub and spoke architecture leveraging technologies and practices such as dbt, Fivetran, Informatica IICS, Snowpipe, APIs, event-driven integrations, DataOps, CI/CD, data observability, and enterprise data governance. The Director will lead this continued modernization, reducing technical debt, strengthening integration capabilities, improving data quality and trust, and establishing resilient and reusable data services and products.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute EDF’s enterprise data and integration strategy, architecture, and multi-year technology roadmap.
• Lead the evolution of the Snowflake-based enterprise data platform and modern data engineering capabilities.
• Establish scalable API-first, event-driven, and cloud-native integration patterns across CRM, Finance, HCM, Marketing Technology, Fundraising, and other enterprise systems.
• Advance data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, master/reference data, and stewardship capabilities.
• Participate in advancing EDF organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.
• Partner with IT, Marketing, and Fundraising leaders to develop a scalable constituent and MarTech data architecture.
• Enable trusted analytics, business intelligence, data products, self-service analytics, and AI/advanced analytics readiness.
• Partner with Information Security, Legal, and business leaders to ensure privacy, security, responsible data use, and AI readiness are embedded into the architecture.
• Establish modern engineering practices including DataOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, Git/GitHub, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Oversee and ensure enterprise integration architecture is current and meets modern OAuth 2.0 requirements, and lead the deprecation of legacy XML/SOAP integrations and transition to JSON/REST architecture
• Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of data and integration professionals while cultivating strong partnerships across IT and the broader organization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve mission impact, business agility, operational efficiency, and return on technology investment.
• Additional relevant responsibilities assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering with at least 10 years of experience in data engineering, enterprise integration, data architecture, business intelligence, or related experience. A Master’s degree or equivalent may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing an enterprise data and integration strategy within a complex, multi-system environment, balancing strategic vision with organizational capacity, security, reliability, cost, risk, and business value.
• Strong experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Snowflake, and modern data engineering architectures.
• Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
• Strong technical leadership and/or hands-on experience with modern ETL/ELT and data engineering technologies, including Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Informatica, or equivalent platforms and orchestration technologies.
• Strong understanding of API architecture, REST, event-driven architecture, middleware/iPaaS, SaaS integrations, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to understand, review, troubleshoot, and guide production-quality data engineering solutions.
• Demonstrated experience implementing data governance, metadata management, data lineage, data quality, master/reference data management, and data stewardship practices.
• Experience applying modern software engineering and operational practices, including Git/GitHub, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps/DataOps, and observability.
• Experience integrating and operating within enterprise SaaS ecosystems, including CRM, ERP/Finance, HCM, Marketing Technology, fundraising, or comparable business systems.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes and communicate effectively with executives, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and collaborate with technical teams in a matrixed organization, with strong vendor-management, project leadership, prioritization, and financial-management skills.
• Demonstrated judgment and adaptability in environments with finite technology resources, prioritizing investments and initiatives based on mission impact, business value, risk, organizational capacity, and total cost of ownership.
• Willingness and ability for occasional domestic travel.
