Director, Data Science

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, LP, is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Director of Data Science position. The Director of Data Science serves as the department leader in data and AI strategy implementation and is the key staff member for the VP, Sales Planning in major strategic data projects across pricing, sales forecasting, and other opportunities.

Position Responsibilities may include:

• Provide and implement recommended solutions to complex business needs. These would include multiple areas such as pricing, reporting, and detailed sales forecasting

• Communicate with business leaders, broad base of end users, and multiple management layers to gain actionable business insights by making available necessary data, tools, and support mechanisms

• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

• Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into the business unit. 

• Stay abreast of advances in technology.

• Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation

• and resolve problems.

• Evaluate data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.

Nature & Scope:

• Develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the department/sub-function in an effective and innovative fashion

• Understands the business and can put together comprehensive department solutions

• Works with other leaders to establish strategic plans and works towards achieving them

• Provides leadership and direction to managers in their respective division/department

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to facilitate team and business meetings effectively

• Advanced knowledge in the fields of Data Science and AI

• Deep understanding of pricing tools used in the industry

• Excellent communication skills to interact with all project stakeholders including all levels of users and senior management

• Ability to work across teams and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks

• Effective planning, prioritizing, goal-setting skills

• Effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills

• Effective analytical, time management, organization and problem-solving skills

• Strong ability to work well under pressure

• Proven ability to develop and articulate impactful analyses, with the aim of driving improvement

• Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.

Experience: 10+ years of industry specific and/or complementary business experience

Education/Certification: College or university degree or equivalent

Advance degree preferred

People Management: Yes
