Director of Artificial Intelligence – Alzheimer ProjectLocation: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (Hybrid)

Role Overview As the Director of Artificial Intelligence at the Alzheimer Project, you will spearhead the technological frontier of neurodegenerative research, diagnostics, and patient care. We are seeking a visionary AI leader and elite technologist to design and execute our artificial intelligence strategy from the ground up. In this mission-critical role, you will architect the technical roadmap, orchestrate cross-functional teams of top-tier ML engineers and clinical researchers, and drive the development of state-of-the-art models.

You will bridge the gap between deep tech and clinical impact, driving key decisions around data architecture, algorithmic fairness, and privacy to ensure our solutions are secure, highly scalable, and profoundly human-centric.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic & Technical Vision: Define and execute the overarching AI/ML technical roadmap, translating complex clinical, neurobiological, and business challenges into robust AI architectures.
• Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance, multidisciplinary team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and developers.
• Model Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end development of advanced AI models—from data pipeline engineering and algorithmic design to MLOps and production deployment in healthcare services.
• Cross-Functional Synergy: Collaborate deeply with medical personnel, neurobiologists, and product managers to ensure algorithmic integration aligns flawlessly with clinical realities and patient needs.
• Ethical AI & Governance: Act as the ultimate gatekeeper for data governance, championing AI ethics, bias mitigation, and strict privacy compliance (handling highly sensitive clinical data) in all deployments.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven AI Leadership: Demonstrable track record of directing complex AI/ML initiatives, shipping production-grade machine learning systems, and managing elite technical teams.
• Elite Technical Depth: Deep architectural expertise in advanced data analytics, Deep Learning, NLP, or Computer Vision. You must possess the ability to look beyond the code to design systems that solve real-world healthcare problems.
• Ethical Rigor & Compliance: Mastery of best practices in AI ethics, algorithmic fairness, and data privacy frameworks relevant to healthcare and scientific research.
• Communication & Collaboration: World-class communication skills with the unique ability to seamlessly translate between hardcore engineering jargon, clinical medical terminology, and user experience.
• Academic Foundation: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD strongly preferred) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field. Prior experience in HealthTech, bioinformatics, or computational neuroscience is highly valued.
• Modern Stack Mastery: Highly proficient in modern ML stacks, cloud infrastructure, and MLOps, coupled with a relentless drive for continuous learning and technological innovation.
