As Director, Ethics, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy, you’ll provide strategic direction and ensure the continuous improvement of these programs, integrating them into the organization’s operations and risk management practices. Your professional judgment, analytical thinking, and leadership will enable you to set clear standards, oversee reporting to senior management, the President and CEO, and the Board of Directors, and lead a team of professionals.
If you are an ethical, collaborative, and influential person who can clearly communicate complex information and address significant issues in a fast‑paced environment, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll do
- Develop and implement a strategic plan defining employee integrity standards in accordance with legal requirements, public‑sector guidance, and standards applicable to Canadian Crown corporations
- Lead integrity, regulatory compliance, privacy, and access to information programs, and ensure their continuous improvement
- Align the regulatory compliance and privacy programs with the organization’s risk appetite, in collaboration with risk management leaders
- Oversee reports for senior management, the President and CEO, and the Board of Directors, and make recommendations regarding tolerance, reporting approaches, and program outcomes
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with federal officials, legal counsel and counterparts at Canadian Crown corporations
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the ethics, regulatory compliance, and privacy teams by establishing clear expectations, priorities, and objectives
What you’ll bring to the team
Required qualifications:
- A university degree in law, business administration, risk management, governance, public policy, or in a related field
- A minimum of ten years of progressive, relevant professional experience, ideally in a complex, regulated, or public-sector organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to translate legislative, regulatory, or policy requirements into practical, risk‑proportionate frameworks, programs, and controls
- Proven ability to lead a high‑performing team of specialists, along with strong coaching, communication, and relationship‑building skills
- Significant experience in one or more of the following fields: regulatory compliance, risk management, ethics, governance, privacy, law, audit, or a related field
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) and proven ability in oral and written communication
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience integrating regulatory compliance or privacy programs into enterprise risk management
- Experience building relationships with federal oversight bodies or counterparts at Canadian Crown corporations
- Experience developing learning, coaching, or communication strategies to raise awareness and strengthen organizational standards
- Excellent judgment, rigorous analytical thinking, and a high degree of professional ethics and integrity
