About The Organisation

The Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) is a government funded health organisation providing care to a population of approximately 30,740 people. Bordering three states and covering an area of 194,949 square kilometres, FWLHD is the second largest NSW Local Health District in terms of geographic area and has nine facilities and an approximate budget of $130 million.

What You'll Be Doing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to join the Far West LHD, leading the Finance and Corporate Services direction across the district, through effective partnering with the Executive Team, Senior Management, and specialist functions within the district.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director will be a critical appointment for the district with responsibility to establish, oversee and manage the operations of the Finance and Corporate Services functions within the available budget of the District. Provide leadership, direction and management that will ensure the delivery of high quality, safe health services in line with the NSW Health strategic direction and the delivery of effective and efficient Finance and Corporate support services across the District.

  • Develop, implement and oversee strategic, business and financial operations for finance and corporate services
  • Manage diverse portfolios, providing high-level executive and strategic advice and direction
  • Contribute to the development and review of the LHD strategic planning processes and measures.
  • Manage the ownership and submission of statutory and professional reporting requirements including addressing audit matters and ensuring appropriate financial management controls and practices are consistent with financial management’s legislation, framework, strategies and policies.
  • Ensure internal controls and financial procedures are in place as practice is adjusted to continuously improve business processes, services and systems and achieve deadlines and milestones to the required standards and targets and within budget.

How To Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible.

  • Post graduate qualification in business administration, management, finance, CPA or equivalent qualifications, and/or extensive successful experience of contemporary management in corporate services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in effectively managing the specialist functional areas within the Corporate Services directorate, including performance, human resources, finance and performance and corporate support services.
  • Extensive senior management experience in strategy development and business planning including providing strategic leadership and influencing and leading change at an executive level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of organisational governance and compliance requirements and audit and risk management principles and their practical application organisation-wide.
  • Demonstrated achievement in successfully leading and developing capability of multidisciplinary teams; coaching and advising managers; meeting performance goals; and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Proven experience in providing strategic and operational financial analysis and advice to senior executives and stakeholders, with demonstrated ability to implement organisation-wide financial and accounting strategies and programs.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills and extensive experience building, sustaining and using effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders within and across various functional areas to achieve optimal business outcomes.
