Director, FP&A (New York)
Marquee Brands
Marquee owns and manages a portfolio of established global brands across consumer products and channels from luxury goods to sports and active apparel. Marquee’s team of professionals is focused on a commitment to drive organic growth through natural brand extensions, impactful marketing and direct consumer engagement.
Our promise is to ensure our brands continue their storied success through relevant product, expanded retail distribution, and international growth all while continuing to be true to their founding message and origin.
Position Summary
Marquee Brands is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, FP&A to join its New York team. This role will serve as the finance lead for our Home & Culinary division, own royalty reporting and licensee compliance across the entire Marquee portfolio, and regularly support priorities across the broader business.
- Serve as the lead FP&A partner for the Home & Culinary division, owning budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning and driving continuous improvement in those processes
- Own the royalty reporting and licensee compliance process across the entire Marquee portfolio, ensuring royalty reports are received on time, reviewed for accuracy, and checked against contractual terms, and that discrepancies are escalated and resolved
- Use the new platform to analyze licensee performance, flag underperformance and compliance risks early, and identify whitespace opportunities across the portfolio
- Manage, mentor, and develop two analysts responsible for collecting royalty reports from licensees across the portfolio and ensuring compliance with contractual terms, helping them grow from data collection into higher-value analysis as new tools come online
- Incorporate AI technology into everyday tasks and transformational projects to improve efficiency, strengthen insights, and drive smarter decision-making
- Oversee monthly and quarterly financial and operational reporting for the division, maintaining the Home & Culinary P&Ls and ensuring accurate roll-up into Marquee Brands’ consolidated results
- Partner with the Accounting team on the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including variance-to-budget explanations and accrual analysis
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership, delivering financial and business analysis that shapes strategic decisions and presenting findings directly as needed
- Help prepare the quarterly Board of Directors presentation, contributing analysis and content across the full Marquee portfolio
- Assist with due diligence for M&A and fundraising initiatives, including financial analysis and modeling of acquisition targets and preparing materials and data for lenders and investors
- Partner with the Home & Culinary brand teams to turn licensee performance and whitespace analysis into actionable growth plans
- Step in to support FP&A priorities across other Marquee divisions as business needs arise, from forecasting and reporting to ad hoc projects and analysis for senior leadership
This role is for you if
- You enjoy learning how a business works and then building and scaling processes
- You communicate clearly and build strong relationships with brand teams, cross-functional partners, and licensees
- You’re comfortable digging into the details of license agreements and royalty statements without losing sight of the bigger picture
- You’re a self-starter who takes ownership, makes sound decisions on your own, and figures out what matters most without waiting for direction
- You’re excited to use AI-enabled tools to work smarter and help your team move from collecting data to delivering insights
- You have strong modeling skills and are always looking for ways to improve existing models and processes
- You’re energized by leading and developing a team, not just managing your own workload
- You thrive on a small team where you own your area but readily shift gears to help wherever the business needs you, and you see that as a chance to learn the full portfolio
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as finance, accounting, economics, or math; MBA or CPA a plus
- 8+ years of corporate FP&A experience with deep exposure to financial reporting, modeling, and budgeting, including at least 2 years directly managing and developing team members
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proactive, self-directed leader with sound judgment who makes decisions independently, sets priorities with minimal direction, and works well cross-functionally
- Proven track record of managing, mentoring, and developing direct reports
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, NetSuite, BI tools, or licensing and royalty management systems is a plus
- Retail experience with full P&L ownership is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to and influence senior management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
