Job Description Summary

For over forty years, HarbourVest has been home to a committed team of professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to deliver impactful solutions to our clients and investing partners. As our global firm grows, we continue to add individuals who seek a collaborative, open-door culture that values diversity and innovative thinking.

In our collegial environment that’s marked by low turnover and high energy, you’ll be inspired to grow and thrive. Here, you will be encouraged to build on your strengths and acquire new skills and experiences.

We are committed to fostering an environment of inclusion that promotes mutual respect among all employees. Understanding and valuing these differences optimizes the potential of both the individual and the firm.

HarbourVest is an equal opportunity employer.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

This is an outstanding chance to lead HR efforts in the LATAM region. As the LATAM Human Resources Business Partner, you will have a meaningful role in crafting our HR practices and supporting our growing team in Bogotá, Chile, and Mexico. You will guarantee smooth HR operations and aid our ambitious growth by encouraging a collaborative, inclusive, and highly supportive workplace.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Brings a broad HR foundation and good judgment across employee lifecycle matters.
  • Is bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is comfortable working directly in a growing office environment.
  • Builds trust and credibility with employees, managers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, discretion, and strong instincts for handling blocking issues.
  • Has a working knowledge of local employment practices and demonstrates a dedication to inclusion.

What you will do:

  • Serve as the HR partner for the LATAM region: Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers in Bogotá and manage EOR relationships in Chile and Mexico. Deliver practical mentorship across all stages of the employee lifecycle and bring up complex matters as necessary. This role also acts as the primary connection with local vendors, including payroll and benefits providers.
  • Support office expansion, talent planning, and year-end people processes. Collaborate with the Bogotá Office Head and U.S.-based HR team to assist with hiring strategies, onboarding requirements, role transitions, employee communications, and scalable HR methods as the office grows. Lead the annual talent planning process for LATAM and coordinate year-end compensation and promotion activities for the region alongside managers and the wider HR team.
  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, and employee experience support. Be involved in recruiting efforts across LATAM. Collaborate with managers and the U.S.-based HR team to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Help new employees get acclimated and find opportunities to improve the employee experience as the Bogotá office grows.
  • You will hold an important position in developing and reinforcing the Bogotá office’s employer brand and talent attraction plan to create a robust flow of qualified talent as the company expands.
  • Coordinate LATAM payroll, benefits, HR systems, and crucial HR activities: Handle payroll tasks, timekeeping, benefits handling, HR data management, Workday support, reporting, and employee communications, guaranteeing accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion.
  • Advise on workplace relations, performance oversight, and HR policies: Offer mentorship to managers and employees regarding HR policies, workplace expectations, performance issues, employee relations matters, and local employment practices, collaborating with the U.S.-based HR team and global HR subject matter experts to ensure consistent practices and timely attention to critical issues.

What you bring:

  • Extensive understanding of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, talent processes, and local employment regulations.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in managing confidential employee information, sensitive workplace matters, and timely addressing of critical issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently, maintain solid attention to detail, and follow through reliably in a fast-paced, growing office environment.
  • Experience supporting managers and employees regarding workplace expectations, employee relations topics, performance matters, policy understanding, and questions related to the employee lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including the capability to apply HR data, reporting, and employee insights to recognize trends and assist in decision-making.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across levels, functions, regions, vendors, and potential candidates.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with Workday or a comparable HRIS is preferred.

Experience:

  • Over 7 years of advancing HR experience, covering recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and talent processes, ideally within a growing, global, or multi-country setting.
  • Experience with Workday or a comparable HRIS to manage employee information, produce reports, and assist HR processes is preferred.
