Overview
GoodPower works globally to unlock the enormous economic potential of the energy transition—more affordable energy bills, better and more abundant jobs, healthier food, economic security for families and farmers, and a better economy that works for all of us.
We operate at the intersection of digital media, smart tech, civic participation, and advocacy to reach millions of people annually with our work to: lower costs and create jobs, shift culture to transform beliefs and behaviors, and accelerate the deployment of decarbonized technologies like: renewables, regenerative agriculture and electric vehicles—one individual, one neighborhood, one community at a time.
GoodPower is at an exciting, pivotal moment as we launch our new strategic plan through 2030 to level up all areas of our work–growing our organization 5x over the next five years and relentlessly honing our skills and expertise to be the best that we can be to transform our renewable energy economy.
Job Summary
GoodPower employs a highly-skilled and professional global staff that bring diverse experiences from the private, public and nonprofit sectors. The landscape of challenges and opportunities in our field shifts rapidly. What doesn't shift is the need for the tools and capabilities to support our execution.
The Director, Intelligence Products owns GoodPower's Renewables team intelligence stack that supports our siting and permitting campaigns. The role answers product development from the demand side. The role serves as the product owner and person responsible for making the intelligence usable inside live campaigns. Our Engineering & Product builds and maintains the platforms, and this role will work in close collaboration with that team. This role works with the team to define the problems, develop solutions, set priorities, and determine whether the result works in the field. This person will translate operational needs into scoped, prioritized work.
Reporting to the Head of Renewables, this is a product and data leadership role rather than a hands-on engineering post. The Director will take product requirements from the campaigns team and be accountable for the outcomes, coordinating with both the Engineering & Product Team and the Innovation Lab to set the roadmap. A large measure of success is whether these tools are useful and applied.
This is a full-time, remote role based anywhere in the United States. The incumbent will operate from a home office, participate in regular in-person events and both internal and external meetings, and travel for partner, developer, and funder meetings. Some flexibility to work irregular hours as campaign and docket timelines require.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership and Roadmap
- Run the intelligence stack as product infrastructure leading roadmap development, reliability, release cadence, and deployment into live campaigns
- Own CleanCast, GoodPower's GIS driven county scoring and permitting-timeline platform
- Own the project sourcing and lifecycle tools so that projects are found early and followed from first engagement through final outcome
- Set direction for new platform development and deployment of agentic AI workflows
- Define quality control for each output, and decide whether a release is up to standard for campaign use before it reaches the field
Putting Intelligence Inside Campaigns
- Make county scoring, moratorium clocks, and hearing timelines available to campaign staff in a form they will actually use
- Build agenda detection that reliably triggers rapid response
- Take requirements from the the Renewables team, and translate them into usable products working closely with Engineering and Product and Innovation Lab
- Train and support campaign staff on the tools, and treat low adoption as a product problem rather than a user problem
Technical Leadership and Delivery
- Work closely with Engineering and Product team and Innovation Lab to set priorities and product delivery
- Work with the Innovation Lab on tooling, agentic AI workflows, and shared infrastructure
- Hold reliability and data quality standards
- Go hands-on where it is faster to build or prototype directly
External Positioning
- Package our intelligence stack as a fundable ask
- Brief funders directly and hold up under technical questions in those rooms
- Build CleanCast's standing as a reference point for siting and permitting among developers and across the state regulatory ecosystem
- Report on stack performance, adoption, and roadmap to senior leadership
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 8+ years in product or data leadership, drawn from civic tech, political and campaign data, energy market intelligence, or a comparable field.
- Track record shipping data products that non-technical operators actually use, evidenced by adoption rather than by feature lists.
- Enough technical depth to coordinate with engineers and set architecture direction, including agentic AI workflows, without building everything personally.
- Experience owning a roadmap end to end including prioritization, tradeoffs, release, reliability, and sunset decisions. Strong judgment about data quality and its limits.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills, including the ability to turn technical work into a clear written case.
- Ability to explain technical work to lay audiences.
- Comfort operating in a campaign environment where deadlines are set externally.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to travel
Desired Qualifications
- Direct experience with geospatial data and unorganized datasets.
- Experience with power sector datasets including permitting, siting, land-use, or utility regulatory data.
- Familiarity with public docket and public comment systems, including participation-integrity analysis.
- Experience building the funding case for infrastructure or tooling.
