WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are looking for a coach/case manager to guide our incoming corps members from the moment they accept their offer to their summer training. You'll manage a portfolio of new teachers and help each one move through credentialing, district hiring, school placement, and the other steps between saying yes and being ready to teach.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting new teachers and able to pair real care with high expectations. You'll build relationships that help corps members feel they belong, spot early signs that someone is struggling, and step in with support and resources before small challenges become reasons to leave. The goal is to make sure every incoming corps member starts the summer and thus the school year ready, supported, and committed.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Manage a portfolio of incoming corps members, providing individualized support from acceptance through summer training and keeping accurate records of each person's progress (30%)
  • Build trust-based relationships that foster belonging and connection to TFA Bay Area's mission, culture, and community, creating an onboarding experience that strengthens commitment (15%)
  • Help incoming corps members navigate key onboarding milestones, including credentialing, district hiring, school placement, and compliance, using a “warm accountability” approach that balances care with high expectations (25%)
  • Use data to track milestones and spot trends, identify corps members at risk of disengaging or leaving, and intervene early with coaching, problem-solving, and connection to resources (15%)
  • Facilitate reflective conversations that build leadership mindset, resilience, and readiness to teach, and partner with teammates to coordinate timely support plans (15%)

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Matriculation will spend time:

  • Meeting 1:1 with corps members in your portfolio for coaching and check-ins (40%)
  • Troubleshooting credentialing, hiring, placement, and compliance steps with corps members and Onboarding/Matriculation team (20%)
  • Reviewing onboarding data, updating records, and identifying who needs extra support (15%)
  • Facilitating group touchpoints and community-building moments (15%)
  • Coordinating with the Onboarding/Matriculation team on support plans and next steps (10%)

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • Experience as an instructional leader, school leader, principal, assistant principal, dean or educator with a strong track record of coaching/mentoring adults.
  • Expertise in coaching, advising, mentoring, and developing emerging educators.
  • Ability to build authentic relationships while holding people accountable to ambitious goals and commitments.
  • Combines empathy, cultural responsiveness, clear communication, and high expectations.
  • Ability to navigate complex challenges, solve problems proactively, and support people through change and uncertainty.
  • Deep commitment to educational equity and to developing and retaining diverse teacher talent.
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio of individuals, prioritize effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders to ensure corps member success.

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Education: Teaching credential or advanced degree in education or a related field.
  • Prior Experience: Familiarity with California teacher credentialing and district hiring; experience as a Teach For America corps member or alum.
  • Work Demands: Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends during peak onboarding periods.
  • Skills: Comfort using data and tracking tools to monitor progress and share insights with a team.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

You'll join the TFA Bay Area team, a group committed to creating the conditions for new teachers and their students to thrive.
