Director, Medical Affairs
About Climb:
Climb Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapeutics for patients with immune-mediated diseases. Our product candidates include budoprutug, an anti-CD19 monoclonal antibody that presents us with an exciting opportunity given its broad potential applicability across a number of B-cell mediated diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, immune thrombocytopenia, and membranous nephropathy and CLYM116, an anti-APRIL monoclonal antibody in development for IgA nephropathy.
At Climb Bio, our team has a knack for seeing what no one else sees—and a drive to achieve results no one expects. We believe that our combined strength conquers any summit, and our core values – Build Trust, Decide & Commit, Accelerate Impact, and Mark the Moment – guide how we work, collaborate and innovate. They reflect our commitment to patients, each other, and the pursuit of transformative science.
We are seeking a highly motivated Director, Medical Affairs. Reporting to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs, this is a critical role in building Climb Bio’s Medical Affairs function, owning the external scientific engagement and insight strategy that will shape how budoprutug and CLYM116 are developed and understood by the scientific community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the KOL engagement strategy and tactical plans for budoprutug and CLYM116, including identification, mapping, and prioritization of experts across nephrology and other relevant therapeutic areas, and sustained scientific exchange
- Lead the medical insights strategy for both programs: define insight priorities, build processes for capturing insights from KOL interactions, advisory boards, and congresses, and translate findings into clear recommendations for Program Teams and leadership
- Chair and manage the Renal Steering Committee, including membership, charter, agendas, meeting execution, and follow-through on recommendations; lead/manage additional steering committees as the portfolio expands
- Plan and lead advisory boards and other expert engagements, from objectives through execution and insight reporting
- Represent Climb Bio at scientific congresses and external meetings, serving as a recognized scientific expert
- Contribute to Medical Affairs strategy and annual tactical plans for budoprutug and CLYM116 in partnership with the Senior Director, Medical Affairs
- Review scientific publications, abstracts, and congress presentations for scientific accuracy and alignment with the publication plan;
- Provide medical review of other materials to ensure accuracy, scientific balance, and compliance with applicable regulations and company policy, and help build non-promotional and promotional review processes that scale as programs mature
- Partner with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Corporate Strategy, and Program Teams to bring external scientific perspective into program decisions, and help shape the future field medical model as the function grows
- Represent Medical Affairs function on the program team and lead applicable workstreams (e.g. evidence generation)
- Provide support to the Clinical Development team for investigator engagement, site identification and overall phase 3 planning and execution
- Take ownership for medical affairs strategy and planning for one of the two Climb Bio development programs.
Qualifications:
- PharmD and 8+ years of medical affairs experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated record of building KOL relationships and gathering actionable insights from the field, supported by strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience developing Medical Affairs strategy and tactical plans and delivering them through cross-functional collaboration
- Experience reviewing scientific publications, abstracts, and congress presentations
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience
- Therapeutic area experience in autoimmune disease, nephrology, or hematology
- Experience managing steering committees or advisory boards
- Experience with medical review of scientific materials; exposure to launch preparation
- Experience building or leading a field medical (MSL) team
- Experience in a small or clinical-stage biotech, including building processes from the ground up
This role has the option of being remote or hybrid based out of our office in Wellesley, MA, with travel of approximately 10–15%. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience, and competitive market value.
- Salary Range: $240,000-$265,000
