Director of Advocacy & Government Relations

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) is seeking a strategic advocacy leader to direct federal and state government relation s initiatives that impact millions of individuals living with brain injury. As our Director of Advocacy & Government Relations , you would lead policy conversations at the national level while partnering with congressional offices, federal agencies, Affiliates, advocates, and coalition organizations across the country. This fully remote position requires residency within the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) area and offers the chance to shape healthcare policy, disability adv oca c y initiatives, rehabilitation legislation, and grassroots engagement strategies on behalf of the nation's leading brain injury organization. Compensation, Benefits & Remote Flexibility This full-time remote role offers a salary of $125,000 annually along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; long-term disability and group accidental death coverage; paid time off; Health Savings Account (HSA); and a 401(k) with company match. Travel outside the DMV area remains under 20%. Federal Lobbying, Grassroots Adv oca c y & Coalition Leadership Responsibilities Serve as BIAA's lead federal lobbyist, managing relationships with congressional offices and agencies, including HHS, CDC, VA, and DOW Adv ance the Brain Injury National Action Plan through legislative strategy and coalition engagement Support and expand the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force Lead Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill, coordinating advocate engagement and congressional outreach Develop advocacy campaigns, grassroots mobilization efforts, and the Adv oca c y Ambassador program Dr af t policy briefs, testimony, legislative language, regulatory comments, and issue papers Partner with Affiliates on state ABI legislation and adv oca c y strategy Represent BIAA within healthcare, disability, veterans ', rehabilitation, and aging policy coalitions Public Policy, Lobbying & Healthcare Adv oca c y Qualifications 5+ years of Capitol Hill, public affairs , lobbying, legislative af f a i r s , or government relations experience Bachelor's degree in Public Policy , Political Science, Public Administration, or related field required Experience dr af ting legislation, report language, or public policy materials Strong understanding of healthcare policy, disability advocacy , rehabilitation systems, or government programs Experience with advocacy platforms such as Quorum preferred Proven ability to manage coalition relationships and grassroots engagement initiatives Must reside in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) area and thrive within a remote work environment Apply Now If you are passionate about public policy, nonprofit adv oca c y , healthcare legislation, and making a measurable impact through government relations work, apply today to join BIAA's mission-driven leadership team.
