Our growing, multi-site research network partners with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and contract research organizations (CROs) to advance clinical development and expand access to industry-sponsored clinical trials.
We are committed to building a high-performing research network that combines strong site-level execution, meaningful sponsor partnerships, and data-driven decision-making to deliver impactful results.
Position Overview
Panoramic Science is seeking a strategic, metrics-driven Director of Business Development to lead commercial growth across our multi-site clinical research network, with a focus on cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) clinical trials.
This senior leadership role will own the end-to-end business development strategy, driving growth in study awards, sponsor relationships, and long-term commercial partnerships. The Director will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen our market position, improve study award conversion, and build a scalable business development function that supports the organization's long-term growth objectives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of generating revenue through industry-sponsored clinical research, established relationships with biopharma, pharmaceutical, and CRO partners, and a highly analytical approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with organizational growth objectives and long-term value creation.
- Drive growth in industry-sponsored clinical trials, study awards, and repeat business across the research site network.
- Identify and prioritize sponsors, CROs, therapeutic programs, and partnership opportunities based on revenue potential, strategic alignment, and operational feasibility.
- Build and strengthen senior-level relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and CRO partners to secure repeat study awards and long-term, multi-study partnerships.
- Represent Panoramic Science in strategic sponsor meetings, scientific conferences, and industry forums to expand market presence and generate new business opportunities.
- Business Development Operations & Analytics
- Lead the implementation and consistent use of a CRM platform, such as Salesforce, to manage sponsor relationships, pipeline activity, pre-award processes, and study outcomes.
- Establish standardized business development processes, tools, templates, and playbooks to support consistency, efficiency, and scalability across the network.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including pipeline value, study award rates, sales cycle times, sponsor concentration, and revenue forecasts.
- Use data analytics and performance insights to evaluate commercial effectiveness, improve conversion rates, and optimize business development strategies.
- Develop clear, executive-level reporting to communicate pipeline performance, growth trends, and commercial results.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Network Development
- Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic growth planning.
- Collaborate with operations, feasibility, finance, regulatory affairs, and site leadership to align commercial opportunities with site capabilities, patient populations, and execution readiness.
- Translate sponsor and CRO feedback into actionable improvements that strengthen site performance, enhance competitiveness, and support future study awards.
- Develop data-backed presentations, performance narratives, and marketing materials that demonstrate the network's capabilities and value to prospective and existing partners.
- Establish a disciplined business development operating cadence that promotes accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of business development experience within industry-sponsored clinical research.
- Prior experience with a clinical research site network or comparable multi-site research organization.
- Demonstrated success driving study awards, revenue growth, and repeat business with biopharmaceutical companies, large pharmaceutical sponsors, and CROs.
- Established industry relationships and an understanding of sponsor and CRO decision-making processes.
- Strong familiarity with cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) clinical trials and related therapeutic development.
- Experience implementing and managing CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, with expertise in pipeline management, forecasting, and performance analytics.
- A highly analytical, data-driven approach to commercial strategy, with the ability to translate metrics into actionable business decisions.
- Strong executive communication, relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across commercial, operational, and executive teams.
