Job Overview


The Director of Community Engagement and Nursing Workforce Development provides strategic leadership in cultivating, expanding, and sustaining relationships with clinicians and professional networks to advance the education mission and workforce development priorities of the Georgetown University Berkley School of Nursing (BSON).


Grounded in Jesuit values of cura personalis, service, and social justice, this role advances BSON’s mission by fostering meaningful partnerships that support clinical learning, student success, mentorship, experiential learning, and the future of nursing. Through intentional outreach and engagement with clinicians, administrators, community members and other relevant healthcare leaders, the Director strengthens the connection between academic nursing and practice while advancing BSON’s national reputation in nursing education, nursing science, and workforce innovation.


The Director will design and implement a comprehensive short- and long-term engagement strategy that integrates clinical preceptor opportunities, student mentorship, career networking, and pipeline initiatives, with particular attention to expanding access for students from communities underrepresented in nursing. This position plays a critical role in expanding high-quality clinical and experiential learning opportunities, by cultivating clinicians who serve as preceptors, mentors, professional advisors, and champions of nursing education.


The Director will also develop strategic pipeline initiatives that increase visibility of nursing as a profession and introduce students to nursing science, health, and healthcare careers through partnerships with schools, and regional organizations. Through health-focused learning experiences, nursing exploration activities, boot camps, and immersion programs, the Director will strengthen BSON’s role as a committed partner in the region while inspiring future generations to pursue careers in healthcare.

Work Interactions

The Director collaborates extensively across internal and external stakeholders, including:


  • Dean, Associate/Assistant Deans
  • Directors, Faculty and Staff within BSON
  • Clinicians and professional networks
  • Clinical Placements, to hand off cultivated relationships for formal affiliation agreements and placement scheduling
  • Marketing & Communications, to align on public-facing storytelling, event promotion, and CRM/Salesforce reporting tied to engagement outcomes
  • Community partners interested in development of career pathways
  • Other Georgetown University teams and offices, as needed to support cross-institutional initiatives and community partnerships

The role requires a high degree of cross-functional coordination and the ability to represent BSON in academic, community, and professional settings.

Requirements and Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, education, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in nursing (practice or education), strategic partnerships, workforce development, relationship cultivation, public engagement, civic engagement, outreach, external relations, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage diverse constituencies across academic and civic-related environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, relationship-building, interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives using measurable outcomes and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience using relationship management systems, databases, or CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) to track engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, professional formation, nursing workforce development, and advancing the visibility of nursing as a profession.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into strategic action
  • Commitment to Jesuit mission and values, including equity, inclusion, and social impact

Preferred Experience


  • Experience supporting clinical education, preceptor engagement, mentorship initiatives, or experiential learning programs.
  • Experience within a school of nursing or academic health environment
  • Experience in recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Familiarity with workforce development in nursing education

Work Mode Designation


This position has been designated as Hybrid requiring 2-3 days on campus. Regular on-site engagement is expected to support events, student programming, and stakeholder collaboration. Evening and occasional weekend hours may be required to support alumni and community events.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
