About NewEdge Power
NewEdge Power is a pure-play clean energy development platform focused on developing high return utility-scale and distributed power solutions across the United States. NewEdge is a dynamic, high-growth, and entrepreneurial company. As a nimble and geographically dispersed team, the company is committed to fostering an environment of inclusion, teamwork, and delivering high impact for both the business and the communities it serves.

NewEdge seeks an ambitious, results-driven developer with proven skills, experience, and emotional intelligence to lead a portfolio of utility-scale battery storage and solar projects across PJM, MISO, and ERCOT. The Director of Development position requires a strong cross-functional skill set spanning interconnection, site control, permitting, community engagement, and commercial and capital readiness, with clear ownership of projects from greenfield through NTP or sale.

Your Core Responsibilities
  • Project Development Leadership: Lead execution of a portfolio of utility-scale storage and solar projects from greenfield through NTP or sale, owning project budgets, schedules, risk registers, and critical-path mitigation plans.
  • Interconnection: Manage interconnection strategy and queue positions in PJM, MISO, and ERCOT, including cluster applications, study review, readiness deposits and security, network upgrade cost exposure, go/no-go decisions, and interconnection agreement negotiation, in coordination with transmission engineering.
  • Site Origination & Land: Identify and secure greenfield, brownfield, and co-located sites, negotiate leases, options, and easements, and oversee title, survey, and curative work.
  • Permitting & Community: Partner with the Director of Permitting on local approvals, tax abatements, PILOTs, road use, and host community agreements, and build durable relationships with landowners, officials, utilities, and community leaders.
  • Commercial & Capital Readiness: Work with Commercial and Finance on offtake strategy, project valuation, sale processes, and financing, and lead development diligence for buyers, lenders, and capital partners.
  • Reporting & Team: Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting on budgets, timelines, and risk for management, the Board, and investors. Hire, manage, and mentor project developers as the team grows.
  • Other: NewEdge is a rapidly growing organization. Job duties may evolve over time to best support the continued growth of the business.

Experience Qualifiers
  • Director: 7+ years of utility-scale renewable energy or battery storage development experience with progressive project management responsibility, including multiple projects (300+ MW) brought to NTP, financing, or sale.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with interconnection processes in at least one of PJM, MISO, or ERCOT; multi-market experience strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of development experience with a proven track record across land acquisition, interconnection, discretionary permitting, and community engagement.
  • 5+ years of experience negotiating or managing common development contracts (land agreements, interconnection agreements, PILOTs, BESS supply and EPC agreements, MIPAs, and offtake agreements).
  • 3+ years of experience working with battery storage and solar engineering and technical design considerations (POI design, duration and augmentation, collector and substation scope).
  • Comfort managing project-level development budgets and contributing to pro forma assumptions.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills, and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time for project-related activities, often at short notice (e.g. landowner meetings, permitting meetings, etc.)
  • Highly analytical mindset with a curiosity to figure new things out.
  • Team player with a willingness to engage across the organization.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and respect for others.
  • Self-starter with a strong passion for the clean energy industry.

Preferred Differentiators
  • Master’s Degree or MBA.
  • Prior experience in an entrepreneurial environment and/or working for a small-to-medium size project development company.
  • Experience with co-located, hybrid, or large-load-adjacent storage projects.
  • Experience supporting project sales or financings with private equity or strategic capital partners.
