Parento is the first provider for paid parental leave, distributing the first and only paid parental leave insurance and support program. Our holistic program enables companies to offer paid maternity and paternity leave to all employees. We help more working parents, especially working moms, return to work full time after welcoming a new child.

We're an early-stage startup looking for a tenacious senior dev to partner with our senior product manager and staff software engineer, and will be responsible for our Leave Management System, claims and leave portals, internal-facing tools, and in-house development function; this role is directly responsible for programming as well as managing the team.

This position plays a key role in advancing our mission of expanding access to paid parental leave and improving the working parent experience. This role will work closely with the CEO to establish and develop our internal and external-facing products for companies and employees, establishing them as a competitive advantage. You’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of our employer and employee portals, integrations with external services, and developing in-house tools and databases.

We're looking for someone with experience developing complex products, preferably in the HR, insurance, or related spaces. However, this is a startup, so no job is too big or too little for you, you do whatever it takes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technical voice of the internal/external customer, enabling systems that allow for providing timely, well documented and insightful input

• Directly responsible for API integrations

• Develop front end mobile and web architecture

• Design user interactions on mobile/web

• Ensure cross-platform optimization for mobile

• Develop back end applications

• Ensure application responsiveness

• Work alongside UX/UI designers

• Deliver quality solutions that meet or exceed consumer and technical needs

• Improve your knowledge – includes staying educated on developments in mobile/web applications and programming languages

• Own and understand existing/new customers’ technical needs and translating how our platform offerings could match those needs.

• Better operationalize delivery of services and identify opportunities to sustainably scale the team, knowing that systems will require continuous iteration.

Desired Skills

• 7+ years development experience

• Experience with different programming languages

• Experience with React, preferably

• Experience with PHP/Laravel, required

• Experience with AWS

• Experience with identity providers such Auth0 and Okta

• Have experience with relational databases, preferably SQL Server

• Have excellent communication, business partnering, and customer service skills

• Be skilled working with cross-functional project and product teams

• Self-starter, excited to roll up sleeves and dive in wherever is needed

• Able to identify process gaps, create solutions and continually iterate on processes as the team grows and needs change

• Able to multi-task across multiple projects, teams, and deadlines

• Be accountable and deliver
