Director, Financial Planning & Analysis – Mergers & Acquisitions

Jeppesen ForeFlight · Austin (Preferred) or Remote (US) · Up to 20% travel

Key Responsibilities:

The Opportunity

Jeppesen ForeFlight is at a defining moment. Backed by Thoma Bravo and combining Jeppesen’s 90-year legacy with ForeFlight’s culture of innovation, we are building the most unified, intelligent aviation software platform in the world – serving commercial airlines, business aviation, military, and general aviation operators globally.

M&A is core to our growth strategy, and rigorous financial analysis is what turns deal theses into realized returns. As Director, Financial Planning & Analysis – M&A, you will own the financial modeling, financial due diligence, and post-merger financial tracking that underpin every acquisition we make. You’ll build the models that shape go/no-go decisions, lead financial due diligence on targets, and stand up the reporting that holds every deal accountable to the value it projected.

This role is embedded in the core FP&A organization, not a standalone deal team – so alongside deal work, you’ll support the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting and tracking, and business-partner reporting that the broader FP&A team owns year-round. When M&A activity is active, deal modeling, financial diligence, and integration tracking will be your primary focus; when the pipeline is quieter, you’ll pick up planning, budgeting, and variance analysis work alongside the rest of FP&A. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a rigorous, detail-driven finance leader who wants to own the numbers that directly impact the company’s growth strategy – on deals and in the core business.

Reporting directly to the SVP, Financial Planning & Analysis, and partnering closely with Accounting, Corporate Development, Product, GTM and other functional leaders, you will sit at the center of Jeppesen ForeFlight’s most consequential financial decisions.

What You’ll Do

Lead and Own M&A Financial Modeling & Deal Evaluation

  • Build and maintain sophisticated M&A models – operating models, Pro Forma P&Ls, accretion/dilution, returns analysis, and synergy sizing – to support deal evaluation and negotiation.
  • Partner with Corporate Development, functional leaders and executive leadership to stress-test deal assumptions, financing scenarios, and valuation ranges.
  • Present financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO, executive team, and Board on prospective acquisitions.

Own Financial Due Diligence

  • Lead financial due diligence workstreams on target companies – including quality of earnings, working capital, and revenue recognition review in coordination with external advisors.
  • Validate target financial statements, forecasts, and the key assumptions underpinning the deal thesis.
  • Identify financial risks and deal considerations including integration expenses, and support negotiation of post-close adjustments such as purchase price true-ups.

Drive Post-Merger Financial Tracking & Synergy Realization

  • Design and maintain post-merger financial tracking frameworks that monitor actual performance against the deal model and synergy targets.
  • Partner with the Integration Management Office, FP&A, and functional leaders to track cost and revenue synergies, one-time integration costs, and deal ROI.
  • Deliver regular reporting to executives and the Board on integration financial performance, variances, and corrective actions.

Build Scalable FP&A Infrastructure for M&A

  • Establish standardized templates, KPIs, and dashboards for deal evaluation and post-close financial tracking across a growing acquisition portfolio.
  • Integrate acquired companies’ financials into consolidated forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting.
  • Partner with Accounting on purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, and chart-of-accounts integration.

Support Core FP&A: Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the broader FP&A team’s recurring workload between deals – including the annual operating plan, monthly forecasting and tracking, and reporting – tracking actuals against plan and identifying key drivers of variance.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and strategic decision-making for the core business and strategic partnerships, not just M&A.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses and executive-ready reporting packages, and analyze revenue, headcount costs, and operating expenses to provide actionable recommendations to business partners.
  • Partner with the Accounting team on accruals and reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and strategic projects as requested by FP&A leadership, flexing capacity to wherever the business need is greatest.

Partner Across the Organization

  • Serve as the key FP&A partner to Corporate Development, Accounting, Legal, and other functional leaders throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Provide a financial perspective on strategic and integration decisions, ensuring alignment with the deal thesis and enterprise financial goals.

Basic Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of progressive FP&A, investment banking, corporate development, or transaction advisory experience in enterprise software, including 5+ years directly supporting M&A financial modeling and diligence in enterprise software.
  • Demonstrated experience tracking and reporting on post-merger financial performance and synergy realization.
  • Solid grounding in core FP&A fundamentals – annual operating plans, monthly reforecasting, variance analysis, and headcount/opex reporting – gained in a corporate finance or FP&A seat, not deal work alone.
  • Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, or technology required; aviation or complex vertical software a plus.
  • Prior exposure to PE-backed or highly acquisitive companies is a strong advantage.

Skills

  • Advanced financial modeling skills (operating models, PF P&Ls, accretion/dilution, returns analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis) with rigorous attention to detail.
  • Strong grasp of SaaS software finance and accounting, purchase accounting, GAAP, and deal structuring concepts.
  • Comfortable moving between deal-driven analysis and standard budgeting/forecasting cadences as business priorities shift.
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting complex financial analysis to executives and the Board.
  • Ability to manage multiple live deals, integrations, and core planning deliverables concurrently with composure under time pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required;
  • Up to 20% travel

Preferred

  • MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Experience with Anaplan, Hyperion Essbase, or similar planning tools preferred.
