Director, Lifecycle
Oct. 2026
About Amplify
Amplify is life insurance with a twist. We're a direct-to-consumer agency working with multiple top carriers, licensed in all 50 states, and offering term, whole life, and Indexed Universal Life (IUL). That signature product, IUL, pairs lifelong protection with cash value that can build over time. We serve a variety of customers from high earners using life insurance as part of their wealth plan, to young families getting covered for the first time.
We're an early-stage startup with a small team that just raised and is ready to grow. Our customers come to us for meaningful financial protection, and our job is to make sure they get that value every year they're with us, not just the day they sign up.

The opportunity
We're hiring our Director of Lifecycle to build Amplify's lifecycle program from the ground up. There's no playbook to inherit and no team of specialists to delegate to yet. You'll design the strategy, pick the tools, write the first emails, build the first journeys, and prove what works.
Lifecycle at Amplify covers the whole customer relationship, starting well before the policy. Many of our customers get a quote online, take weeks to decide, and finish their application with one of our licensed agents. You'll own that path from quote to submitted application, the handoff to our agents, and everything after the policy is issued: onboarding, keeping coverage in force, annual reviews, upgrades, and referrals.
This role is for someone who has done Lifecycle well at scale and knows what "good" looks like, but who still loves being hands-on. As the program proves itself, you'll have the chance to grow a team around it.
You'll report directly to the CMO and work closely with our licensed agent team, product, data, compliance, and brand.
What you'll do
In your first 90 days
- Audit every message, touchpoint, and data source we have today, and map the full customer path from first quote to submitted application to policyholder (or lapse).
- Ship quick wins in the first month: fast follow-up for new quotes, a real nurture sequence for people still deciding, and a cleaner handoff from digital lead to licensed agent.
- Stand up a policy delivery and early-onboarding sequence that helps new customers keep their coverage in force.
- Validate and build out our lifecycle stack in HubSpot (plus SMS and any other tools you need), and make sure the data behind it, from lead events to agent outcomes to policy status, is trustworthy.
- Present a 6-month lifecycle strategy with clear priorities, targets, and the measurement plan to back them up.
Ongoing
- Own lifecycle strategy and execution across email, SMS, and the handoffs to our agent team.
- Build and run automated journeys for quote follow-up, nurture, application completion, agent handoff, policy delivery, early-tenure retention, annual reviews, term conversion and upsell, referral, and re-engaging stalled leads.
- Write, design (or brief), build, QA, and launch campaigns yourself. You'll be in the tools daily.
- Define segmentation and personalization by customer segment, product, funnel stage, and customer value. Wealth-focused high earners and young families need very different messages.
- Partner with our agent team on lead routing, speed to lead, and what happens before and after each call.
- Run a steady test-and-learn program, with proper holdouts so we know what lifecycle drives.
- Partner with product on key moments in the online quote and application flow, and with data on event tracking and attribution.
- Work within our compliance review process, and protect deliverability, list health, and consent (TCPA, CAN-SPAM, state insurance marketing rules, GDPR / CCPA as relevant).
- Report on lifecycle impact in the terms our leadership and board use: quote-to-application conversion, CAC, payback on commission revenue, and early-lapse rates.
- Make the case for, then hire and lead, a lifecycle team as the program scales.
What you bring
- 8+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, including at least 2 to 3 years leading the function or a major part of it.
- A track record of building a lifecycle program (or a big piece of one) from scratch, not only optimizing a mature one.
- Experience with a considered purchase where marketing hands off to a sales or advisor team, such as insurance, financial services, or other high-ticket products. You know how to nurture a lead for weeks without wearing out your welcome.
- Hands-on fluency in at least one modern lifecycle platform such as Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or Klaviyo, with a strong preference for HubSpot. You can build a journey end to end without filing a ticket.
- Experience shipping marketing through compliance or legal review in a regulated category, including SMS and phone consent rules.
- Strong analytical skills: you're comfortable in dashboards and spreadsheets, can write or read basic SQL, and you design tests with real control groups.
- Sharp, on-brand copywriting. You can make a complex financial product feel simple and human, and write a subject line or an SMS that people want to open.
- Working knowledge of the data behind lifecycle: events, contact properties, identity resolution, and how a CRM, CDP, or warehouse feeds your tools.
- Clear communication with executives and cross-functional partners. You can explain why a program matters in revenue terms.
Nice to have
- Experience at an early-stage or high-growth company, ideally as the first lifecycle hire.
- Background in life insurance, annuities, wealth management, or another insurtech or fintech business.
- Experience with retention or persistency programs where early cancellations carry a real cost.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email, templating languages, or light scripting.
- Experience building referral or partner programs.
You'll thrive here if
- You'd rather ship a good flow this week than a perfect one next quarter, and you know which corners are safe to cut.
- You've seen enough programs to know what "done right" looks like, and you build foundations (naming, data, testing) that won't need to be torn out later.
- You're happy writing the copy, building the journey, and pulling the numbers yourself.
- You can move fast inside a compliance process, and you plan for review time instead of fighting it.
- You get energy from ambiguity and turn it into a plan other people can follow.
- You treat customers' inboxes and phones with respect. More messages is not the goal; better ones are.
This probably isn't the role for you if you're looking to manage a large team on day one, or you prefer to set strategy and hand execution to others.
The details
- Location: [Remote (US)]
- Compensation: $140k-$160k OTE
To apply: send your resume and a short note about a lifecycle program you built and what it moved. Links to work you're proud of (journeys, emails, test results) are very welcome.
