Location: Parsippany NJ (Hybrid work schedule)
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Salary: 130-150k + discretionary bonus
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer, with a dotted-line relationship to the Chief Revenue Officer
The Opportunity
Planned Companies is looking for a Director of Marketing who is equal parts strategist, creator and doer to lead the next chapter of our brand and marketing strategy.
We want Marketing to play a bigger role across our business — becoming more strategic, insight-driven, creative and smarter about how we use technology. Marketing at Planned Companies isn't just about generating leads or supporting Sales; it's about shaping how our clients, prospects, employees and communities experience our brand.
Reporting directly to our CEO and partnering closely with our CRO, you'll lead Marketing as a resource for the entire company, working across Sales, Operations, Human Resources, IT and other functions to identify where Marketing can add value and turn ideas into action.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll lead and develop a lean Marketing team, but you'll also stay close to the work — whether that's researching a new market, shaping a campaign, refining messaging, building a presentation, working through a CRM challenge or experimenting with an AI tool.
We're looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, strong business judgment and curiosity about our business, customers and competitors. If you enjoy building, experimenting and seeing ideas through from strategy to execution, you'll have the opportunity to make a visible impact across Planned Companies.
What You'll Do
Shape Our Brand & Tell Our Story
- Lead the overall marketing strategy and continue to evolve the Planned Companies brand.
- Bring our services, people and culture to life through compelling storytelling, campaigns and content.
- Elevate the quality and consistency of our digital presence, presentations, proposals and client-facing materials.
- Strengthen our content, website and search strategies as the way clients research and discover companies continues to evolve.
Drive Growth & Understand the Market
- Partner closely with the CRO and Sales team on campaigns, lead generation, strategic pursuits and business development.
- Conduct market, client and competitive research to identify trends, understand client needs, uncover opportunities and strengthen our positioning.
- Develop messaging, presentations and sales tools that clearly communicate our value and differentiate Planned Companies.
- Build stronger alignment between Marketing and Sales around leads, pipeline and results.
Partner Across the Company
- Build strong partnerships with Operations, Human Resources, IT and other teams, bringing marketing expertise to initiatives across the business.
- Help teams turn ideas into polished, engaging communications, campaigns and experiences that reflect our brand.
- Proactively identify opportunities for Marketing to add value rather than waiting for the business to come to Marketing.
Modernize How We Market
- Own our marketing technology and tools, including CRM, marketing automation, website platforms and analytics, partnering with IT on integrations and data.
- Identify practical ways to use AI to improve research, content, creativity, productivity, personalization and campaign performance.
- Stay ahead of changes in digital marketing, search and AI-driven discovery and translate them into opportunities for Planned Companies.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and reporting to understand marketing performance, pipeline contribution and ROI.
Lead & Build
- Lead, develop and inspire a lean Marketing team with clear priorities, ownership and accountability.
- Manage the marketing budget and determine where internal execution versus outside expertise will deliver the greatest value.
- Bring new ideas to the table and challenge us to think differently about how we market and communicate.
- Lead from the front — setting direction while rolling up your sleeves and doing the work alongside your team.
What You'll Bring
- 7+ years of progressive marketing experience, including experience leading a marketing function or team.
- Strong B2B marketing experience; experience in real estate services, facilities services, hospitality, security or another service-based industry is a plus.
- A track record of developing marketing strategies that strengthen brands and support business growth.
- Strong market research and analytical skills with the ability to turn insights into recommendations and action.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, CRM, marketing automation, analytics and emerging marketing technologies.
- Hands-on experience using AI and curiosity about how emerging technology will continue to change marketing.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, communication and presentation skills — with a strong eye for design, brand and visual quality.
- The ability to build relationships and influence across departments and levels of an organization.
- A true player-coach mindset — you enjoy leading others, but you're just as comfortable creating, editing, analyzing and executing yourself.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 12–18 months, you'll have helped us build a more strategic, modern and connected Marketing function — one that understands our markets, strengthens our brand, supports growth, uses technology intelligently and is viewed as a valuable partner across Planned Companies.
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation package.
- Health benefits and paid-time-off.
- 401K with company match.
