Director of Product, Marketplaces & Customer Tools (Miami/Hybrid)
Please do not apply if relocation to Miami is not an option.
About the Role
Boats Group operates the world’s leading online boating marketplaces, including YachtWorld, Boat Trader, and boats.com. Our products help millions of people discover, buy, and sell boats — and give dealers, brokers, and other industry professionals the tools to manage and grow their businesses.
We’re looking for a Director of Product, Marketplaces & Customer Tools to lead the product teams responsible for our consumer marketplace experiences and the software our customers use every day.
This is a role for a product leader who understands both consumer marketplaces and B2B SaaS. You know how to help buyers find the right boat and connect with sellers, and how to build intuitive, valuable tools that help customers manage inventory, respond to leads, and improve business performance.
You’ll own the product vision, strategy, and execution across these connected areas. That means improving established products at scale, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring our marketplaces and customer tools work together to create more value for buyers, sellers, and Boats Group.
You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, Research, Data, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to understand needs, set priorities, and bring high-quality products to market.
We’re looking for someone who can lead strong product teams, bring clarity to complex decisions, and connect customer value with measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across our marketplaces and customer tools, connecting near-term priorities with long-term business goals.
- Lead, coach, and develop product managers and product leaders, establishing clear ownership, high standards, and accountability for outcomes.
- Build a cohesive product experience across the buyer journey and the tools dealers, brokers, and sellers use to manage their businesses.
- Evolve our consumer marketplaces to improve discovery, search, consideration, and buyer-seller connections.
- Lead the development of customer tools that simplify workflows, support adoption and ongoing engagement, and help customers realize measurable value.
- Balance the needs of consumers and business customers, making thoughtful trade-offs across marketplace health, customer retention, revenue growth, and operational complexity.
- Partner closely with Engineering and Design leadership to shape opportunities, establish scope, and deliver intuitive, reliable products.
- Use customer research, behavioral data, experimentation, and commercial insights to inform decisions and validate results.
- Establish clear success measures across marketplace performance and SaaS product health, including conversion, lead quality, adoption, engagement, retention, and expansion.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to inform product positioning, packaging, launches, and customer adoption.
- Identify opportunities to create new products and capabilities, guiding teams from early discovery through a testable MVP, launch, and iteration.
- Communicate product strategy, priorities, progress, and trade-offs clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Strengthen product practices across discovery, prioritization, delivery, and measurement while creating a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience, including 4+ years leading and developing product teams.
- Demonstrated experience across consumer marketplaces and B2B SaaS, with a strong understanding of the different customer needs, business models, and success measures involved.
- A track record of owning product strategy and delivering measurable customer and business outcomes across multiple product areas.
- Experience improving marketplace journeys such as discovery, search, lead generation, or transactions, with an understanding of how buyer and seller experiences influence each other.
- Experience building software for business customers, including workflow tools where usability, adoption, retention, and ongoing value are critical.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to connect product decisions with revenue growth, customer retention, and business performance.
- Experience managing competing priorities and allocating resources across teams, products, and time horizons.
- Demonstrated ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous opportunities and make sound decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience defining product metrics, interpreting behavioral data, and using experimentation to guide investment.
- Experience partnering closely with Engineering and Design leaders to balance customer needs, technical realities, and product quality.
- Experience working with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to understand customer needs and bring products to market.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align teams around a clear direction.
- Experience using AI tools to improve product discovery, analysis, prototyping, or execution, along with sound judgment about where AI can create meaningful customer value.
Nice to Have
- Experience in automotive, real estate, travel, boating, or another marketplace connecting consumers with professional sellers.
- Experience with dealer or broker software, inventory management, CRM, lead management, or performance reporting tools.
- Experience leading products across multiple brands, customer segments, or geographic markets.
- Experience with SaaS pricing and packaging, subscription models, or products that combine software and marketplace services.
- Experience taking new products from 0→1 while also improving established, high-traffic products.
- Experience integrating products or simplifying overlapping tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with the needs of small and midsize businesses and the workflows of sales-driven organizations.
